A First Rounder and a 2nd Rounder and Moulsen for Vanek. No wonder the Isles are perennial trolls that live under the bridge. Moulsen is already better than Vanek, 5 years or more younger, and they give up a 1st and a 2nd along with him.
Dumb, dumb, de dumb, dumb.

I'll agree with the idea that it's a bad trade, but Moulson is older than Vanek by nearly a year FYI.

The Sabres are giving up a proven scorer, but they're getting a solid guy in Moulson as well as 2 premium draft picks, so the Sabres might just end up being the winners of that trade in the end.

Moulson will be around for a cup of coffee before being shipped off for yet more picks at the deadline....probably with others...

The ghost of Mike Milbury strikes again.
I realize that they're both pending UFA's after this season, but to give up two high picks like that is crazy town.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Moulson has a 10 ft radius of work around the net. Everywhere else, he just watches.I collect Matt Dzieduszycki, Derek King, Pierre Turgeon (Isles only), Zigmund Palffy (Isles only) plus specific current Isles (mainly Wahlstrom, Dobson, Barzal, Beauvillier, Pulock)

Please, no more offers for tradebait. I have enough of it as it is.

Well, they have the rest of the season to convince Vanek to stay now. If Snow can lock him up before he goes UFA, it will have been Vanek for two draft picks, as Moulson was probably about to pull an Anson Carter anyway (a season or two of inflated stats from playing with Tavares - for Carter it was the Sedins - then go to the highest bidder next UFA season - Carter went to Columbus and disappeared forever) and they would have lost him for nothing anyway.
Call me stupid, but Vanek for a couple of draft picks to a team that is finished with the draft portion of the rebuild is not as bad a deal as this one sounds at first. Of coure, if they can't convince Vanek to stay, it's going to be a very expensive rental. But if they can keep him, they just need goaltending and another couple years.

Please research before posting, Moulson is actually 3 months OLDER. As an Isles Moulson kills us defensively and 5-5, yes he can score, and yes its mostly on the PP. Regarding 1st and 2nd round picks, those will be meaningless as the Isles improve in the standings. Going to take a couple years just to give our current prospects legit icetime, still have Strome and Reinhardt both top 5 overall picks and haven't dressed yet. Also the reality Isles were not going to sign Moulson for the money he wanted, 5 mill plus, and what will he be worth, more draft picks at the trade deadline ? We don't need draft picks. Worst case scenerio, if Vanek not signed by trade deadline, he is more marketable then Moulson ... GUARANTEED.

I completely agree that Vanek is more marketable than Moulson but do you think that the Isles would deal Vanek at the deadline if they are in position to make the playoffs?
