Conservative logic: Any complaints must be about not having the absolute best. Which is why we have no complaints about food, shelter, clothing...and we can that government bailouts of large corporations to trickle it down on us! No need to give it straight to the people. Give wealth to the already wealthy so they can control our wealth.
Oh, and stop controlling my wealth."

Got any consistent examples where giving money to the poor results in them becoming the rich...or middle class...or even upper lower class?
And before you challenge me to prove it doesn't work...
McDowell County, West Virginia. In 1961 the WV DHHR issued the very first food stamps ever handed out in the state in McDowell county. 52 years later they have a high school graduation rate of 59.9% (nearly 20% lower than the national rate of 78.2%), a bachelor's degree rate of 6.6% (compared to the national rate of 30.4%), a poverty rate of 34% (more than double the national rate), an unemployment rate of 9.8% (compared to the national average of 7.3%) and according to the US Census Bureau, McDowell county is the 8th poorest county in the United States (based on median household income). So it would seem that even half a decade of handouts has resulted in the exact opposite of what liberals want everyone to think government assistance will do for the poor. If liberals were right then after 50+ years of handouts McDowell county should be one of the top wealthy counties in the nation, not one of the top 10 poorest in the nation.

I wasn't extolling the virtues of food stamps. I was saying it's hard to take conservatives seriously when they whine about the government giving money to the poor, but give a business owner money and all I hear from them is crickets.

I don't support subsidies for anyone. Taxpayer dollars are supposed to be used to run the government (military, tax system operation, government branches, etc.). If I had my way everyone who has income would pay the same tax rate and there would be zero tax breaks, rebates, provisions, credits or exceptions.
