I heard he lives in CT, so he's wanted to be a Ranger for a while.

Did "I've made no decision" mean "I'm walking"?
Or did "I'm going to test free agency" mean "There's no way I'm staying with the Islanders."

This is how I'm looking at the Vanek trade - they will get 18 regular season games plus playoffs from him.
For all the inconsistencies the Habs have endured at various points this year, they are still in 2nd place in the Atlantic Division and are 7 points clear of the 9th place Red Wings in the Eastern Conference.
The East is very wide open and the Habs just made a big statement that they're of the belief that they can run with Boston and Pittsburgh...not in two or three years, but now. In a 7 game series they match up well with just about any team in their conference. The only sustained question mark they've had all season has been scoring. Vanek addresses that in a big way. If he produces like he can, with the motivation that he is playing on a contender in meaningful games with an eye towards scoring a huge contract this summer, look out.
Huge move by Bergevin...who was getting ripped earlier in the day by a lot of Habs fans for the rather mundane additions of Weaver and Dubnyk.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

The latter I suspect, why sign with such a dumb organization as the Islander's when you can feild big offers from some big contenders this summer....although not sure how the Wild could afford him, they just got Moulson from the Ilses for a couple of pucks....not sure what Moulson's contract status is...but wow, if Minny ends up with both these players!!! Meanwhile, somewhere, Tavares is just shaking his head....Bucket: Hidden Content
Interested in anything hockey, any team, mostly less common rookie cards and anything with a Team Canada jersey.

Dubnyk is a steal at 1/4 of his salary (Nashville pays 25%, Edmonton 50%)

Yep, because of that, with him in Hamilton now this move literally costs the Canadiens $0 cap space.

as a Sabre fan, I'm happy with the deals.
*The Sabres sent back the Kings picks from the Regher deal last season, an AHL at best and a guy that was falling down the D depth chart for 2 forwards that can become a part of the solution going forward (and add to the forward depth in the system).
*Essentially have traded TV26 for a 1st, 3 2nds and Torrey Mitchell (who is a serviceable 4th liner).
*Created a young goalie tandem of Enroth and Neurivth that could push each other for the next season or so.
And they moved Cody McCormick! WIN!

A "good job" is all the credit he gets for posting the best numbers of any Team Canada goalie at the Olympics in the NHL era? Wow. He only posted back-to-back shutouts in the semi-finals and gold medal game. Bravo, old chap, indeed.

I don't suspect now that Steve Yzerman will be with the Lightning for the next 10-12 years as he had planned. He made the ultimate mistake, and has had to pay the ultimate price.
The only way he gets a pass is with a Stanley Cup Championship, but that is going to have to come quickly. Fans in Tampa love Marty St. Louis more than Yzerman. Stevie is a Red Wing, not one of their own.
