Polarization in the US?

Actually yes I am. Last election I voted for the party who is not against a massive pipeline going through the province and is all for fracking in province. I'm good with it too, though I do have stipulations that start with "don't destroy the whole place" and get more specific from there.

So I guess I'm totally for it and voted as such. Doesn't mean I can't be in favour of something better and it doesn't mean I have to listen to politicallybiased gibberish from a person who has no problem telling the world he has no idea what he's talking about, but will repeat Rush Limbaugh ad nauseum anyway.

And I know it must blow you mind that not everyone falls entirely left or entirely right. It must be mind blowing to meet someone who wants better fuels, but voted for jobs now. It must absolutely shatter your world that someone exists who isn't solely worried about his/her party and the votes they can get. Well I do exist, and there's more of us, a whole bunch on this board even.

Forgive me if I don't take credibility in your solutions but I was hoping the people in the thread who kept saying there were so many solutions could actually say what they are. If the task is too daunting to list the many solutions how about just one?

And does everyone in the United States have to agree on the problem or is it that the world must agree on it? Never really had that one cleared up either.

The thing is, I think you lie. I think you are Republican. You say you're not, but only ever say vague things in criticism, like in your post here. When a Dem does something stupid, you're all over it. When a rep does something stupid, you're off ragging on a dem.

Your actions show who you are more than words. Your posting here, the only action of yours I can observe, calls you a Republican parrot.

First off, I will call a spade, a spade. You may have a hard time doing that, but that's your problem. I believe , if your comprehension skills are any good, you would be able to see that. Secondly, I don't care who you vote for. Never have since you don't really matter. If sticking to the conservative line makes me a parrot, the so be it. Coming from you, that means nothing. But at least I stay consistent and actually stand for something, which is more then I can say for someone like you.

I think Sanfran, with no insult intended, that you need to open up your mind a little bit. Those who get too in to the political side of this world too far find that they're incapable of seeing what's beyond the dark curtain that's in front of them. Your claim that you won't compromise with any mindless democrat sort of proves this point. Our country was built on compromise, not holding out for one side's plan.

I don't stand for a political party. I am an expert in the field of geoscience, and whatever "side" my research findings put me on, well I guess you can call me whatever that is.

I say this as a cry from the science community...not as a Republican or Democrat...whether you believe in climate change or not, whatever, it doesn't matter.... We need to be cleaner in this world. We need to find better energy solutions to look to the future of this world, because we can't continue to live in the present. Green energy is the future, and it's time we see that. Our government can not let money from big oil drive push the bill anymore. Green energy can produce millions of jobs, but of course would hurt the oil and coal industry. I live in one of those big coal and oil states: North Dakota...We have produced research talking about fracking and it's environmental consequences, but have had them squished by politicians with oil money in their pockets...Just take this post as a look at the science world and how I'm speaking for the majority in the science community on this.

My point was I will not waiver from my core fundamental beliefs. That does not mean I can't reach and agreement on a great many issues. But, for example, I believe abortion is fundamentally wrong. I will not compromise that belief except in one instance. The mothers life is in danger.
I agree we need to be conscience about this planet. I don't agree with the tactics of fear mongering, over-reaction, insane taxes and ridiculous regulations. while both sides can do that, I see it from the left on a great majority of issues. Their answers are tax and spend on most everything. Schools, climate, healthcare, ect ect.
I see two sides in this country, the ones who are pro bettering yourself and minimal intrusion, and one who wants to have you dependent for most everything you need. One who stands for liberty and individual responsibility and one who stands for social justice and marxist ideology.
I will agree that some on the right have tested my trust, but I believe the core principals are the correct ones. It's my job to weed out those that don't stand for them. Is everyone perfect, not a chance. But I believe one side stands for why this country was founded. We escaped a tyrannical gov't only to watch it slide slowly back towards that.

On the green energy. I have no problem looking into alternative sources, but not at the sacrifice of today. How much oil is under the US? Why can't we drill it while working on future energy sources?

That, to me, is where the problem lies. We don't really have right or wrong anymore in a lot of instances. It's messing up this country/world. Kinda ironic but case in point, I just got off the phone with a customer. They asked me if I was a minority owned business. I was told that they have to purchase from a minority owned business from no on until the end of the summer. Keep in mind I've dealt with this customer for years. Their pricing is going to go up based on the quotes they got from the other businesses. Who do you think would legislate something like that? Is it right to overpay with taxpayer money based on race?
