How did the NRA manage to do that given it was formed 6 years after the Civil War ended and a year and a half after the last Confederate state re-entered the Union?
I'd be more than a little interested to hear you elaborate on that one.

It was CHARTERED in 1871. It's beginnings are before that. However, I will concede that it didn't actually begin during the Civil War itself. What I should have said was it was started as a result of Union soldiers being poor shots against the South in the Civil War, not to train them to be better shots during the Civil War.
As for the NRA existing because of the war to free blacks, that is simple. Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate started the NRA because they were upset with the poor marksmanship Union troops had shown during the Civil War. General Ambrose Burnside who had been a Union general noted that Army records indicated that Union army had only hit a Confederate soldier with .01% of their shots and traveled to Europe to learn their marksmanship techniques to better train the troops. Quite simply, had Union troops been more accurate then the formation of the NRA would have most likely never happened. Thus, the NRA exists because of the war to free blacks.

The Republicans used to be liberal and the Democrats conservative too. Things change. The NRA is evil.

anyone against the NRA is probably someone who has never touched a gun and is extremely terrified for no reason.
people are frightened of guns, which is hilarious...its the same difference as being afraid of a pencil because you misspelled a word.
being from the south ive been able to shoot a gun since i was a kid, guns and hunting...are just part of life.
guns are not bad, the crazies who get a hold of them are... which is an extremely low number compared to crime that happens on the street everyday...and car crashes involving idiots who text and drive.....the media loves to glorify shooters so they can push their agenda against the public and get you all stirred up.

Anyone who is for the NRA probably lacks confidence and uses guns to get some. I mean think about it. These people are so afraid they need to defend themselves with guns.
Yeah, we can play this game all day. A fearful person needs a gun. A confident person needs nothing.
And for the record, I'm against the NRA, not guns. They aren't one and the same, you know.

Not necessarily stay alive. It does help eat in some spots, though. We tend to use them for hunting far, far, far, far, far, far, far more than the illusion of protection.
If that "you're from Canada" argument was genuine, don't bother talking to me. If not, my bad. It looked genuine.

thought it was obvious that it was a joke.
most people here in the us who are against guns are against the nra because of the bad media publicity. go watch bloomberg describe guns...yeah pathetic. most couldnt tell you difference between a rifle and shotgun. where people who are "southern" are for the nra and are pro gun because its simply a way of life.
the media demonizes guns and anything that fires a bullet because of the sandy hoax crap and the glorification of shooters who go nuts. this in turn makes ignorant people afraid..and there fore want guns outlawed...which is ignorant.
which i am.
im a photo specialist at walgreens and last week i had to do the funeral photos of a 15 year old boy who was accidentally shot in the head while taking a gun out of his grandfathers truck. im still pro gun.

The NRA is a terrible organization that sells a product based on fear, not usefulness.
