I'm not branding anything.. I have been to northern FL lol.. everything north of the I4 corridor is more or less Alabama / Mississippi / Louisiana. The further south you go in FL the more "north" you actually are. It's not a stereotype if you have experienced it my friend.

***Just to clarify... there are liberal / progressive minded people in every corner of the world. They just exist far less in places like northern fl, and the deep south.

I don't want to get into who knows more about Florida, I was born here, spent my teen and college days in Ohio and then moved back to Florida, I've spent considerable time in St. Augustine, Daytona, St. Pete, Pompano Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, the Keys, etc. and I know nothing about you. But how would you feel if I said everyone that lived in Key West was gay? Do you see the point yet??

I know how absurd and generalizing that is but yet liberals do it to conservatives everyday and its not like it really matters to me personally, what bothers me is the blatant contradiction in the liberal ideology and it is condoned!

Yes.. nearly all congressmen that willingly leave congress do so for $$$. Cynical one's don't run again after their first term in fact; just so they can become lobbyists. Mr. Wexler left in the height of the tea party mess because of the grid lock the republican party was creating. Mitch McConnell openly admitted to "blocking the presidents agenda" to create an atmosphere of gridlock he thought he would capitalize on. Wexler left when he realized that was going on. I have met the man and lived not far from him in Coral Springs... he's a great guy and would make an incredible president one day.

Do you realize that when Republicans are in office that the Democrats tried to block everything they did? It is called politics. I am happy that Obama is such a terrible leader which is keeping him from forcing through more of his policies.

If you believe that Wexler quit because of the mean Tea Party Republicans I have some swamp land to sell you. There is no need to worry about Wexler becoming president because he is a bigger creep than Karl Rove, Al Gore, John Boehner and that ilk of poiticians.

I did not make a generalization that "everyone in x is ......" I said northern florida is like the deep south.. which it is. If the entire state of FL was the same make up of Miami, Orlando, Broward, and even Tampa which is more republican than the others.... Rick Scott wouldn't get 20% of the vote with his record / policies. Because the northern part of the state is what it is.. he somehow has around 40-45% support. Any other point your trying to make here is just twisting my point and meaning.

Yes.. I 100% believe what I said because I actually study history as a hobby and was a history major in college. Tip O'Neill and Reagan would have lunch at least once a week... George Mitchell had a great relationship with HW Bush, and the democrats not only help support W policies, but many helped write medicare part D and the patriot act... both of which I personally oppose.

As for your "anti-progressive" stance... the following presidents were left leaning, or flat out called themselves progressive...

You may notice that there are both democrats and republicans on this list (and some federalists)... but all either claimed a progressive stance, or had a left / progressive agenda as president. To Which of these presidents are you opposed?

This is a piece of historical fact, and the main reason I have the world view I do. I wish that all people would research things like this before ever voting in any election.

Sadly.. the world we live in today has caused a ADD mentality to life and people under 18 don't even know who we fought in WW2 anymore.. let alone the historical difference between liberal and conservative policies.

Not as much as you think. Has it evolved? Sure.. but the core details of a strong centerial government vs. "states rights" has been a core debate since the articles of confederation. Issues like abortion, birth control, border security, federal health care... etc etc weren't imaginable in 1776... but the core beliefs of Madison's, Hamilton's, and Washington's are the same as those of the Clinton's, Obama's, Warren's of today.

Same goes for conservatives... Thomas Pain and Andrew Jackson would fit right in with modern right wing thinkers... they just couldn't a BLEEP about "religious freedom" or social issues.. they would be right there fighting for privatization though.
