that would be the one in your mind, no party is anti science, just because one likes to relate to religion (which I am against) it does not make them anti science. it is only people who are anti religious who like to label the religious as anti science. but keep watching cnn.

also, being educated in science does not make you educated in politics, or a certain parties ideas.

I was honestly looking for a link. I thought maybe you had some numbers from somewhere. I'm not sure what you mean by "a good bit", but I'd bet that the vast majority of voters have jobs... even voters voting democratic. It would be interesting to see exact numbers of unemployed Dem voters vs unemployed Rep voters.

I'm not blind at all to the fact that politicians or groups working with politicians try stuff like this to get extra votes. I agree with you that it's shady and not an ideal way to increase votes. Votes shouldn't be for sale. It just sucks that they are whether it's for a slice of pizza or favors in legislation because of a million dollar lobbyist contribution.

If I had someone approach me with a decent bribe to vote for them I'd take them up on the offer and vote for their opponent.

No, not really joking. Although I highly doubt it would happen. Here's why I say this. Say someone approached me and said they would give me an iPad if I voted for so and so. Let's also assume that I could confirm that this person was working for the candidate. For one, I wouldn't really want a guy in office that was using this practice of directly bribing individual voters. Two, I'd get an iPad.

Obviously you misread my post. If you read what I wrote I was not swayed to vote for the guy, unless I mistyped. I did not vote for the briber in my scenario. I'd also bet money that this will never happen to me ever. It's not a typical practice from what I have experienced. In all honesty if someone approached me about voting a certain way for an iPad I'd think someone was up or that it was some sort of set up. In my scenario I didn't really factor that into the question. It was a hypothetical taking scams, setups, or the like completely out of the equation. If a candidate approached me with an ipad offer I wouldn't vote for him either way even if I was set on voting for him before. That would be the only instance of my vote being swayed by a bribe/bribe offer.

I guess my point was that it just shows how flawed such a practice is. It would more than likely hurt the candidate then anything even outside of any legal repercussions or his political career. Plus, he'd have no way of knowing how the people he's bribed voted anyways.
