I'm glad panini is done as well I've never broke a box that had any value in it... At least with UD you get some value in the boxes. Although the one instance I had with panini CS I pulled a Manzel auto from the redemption from the cleveland convention damaged and they didn't have to do anything for me gave me a 1/10 CJ spiller spectra auto so I guess it worked out. Oh and it's good to know im not the only clasher here lol!

What UD boxes value in it???

Maybe 13-14 series 2 when it was still cheap that's about it...everything else it's turning $100+ into $10-$20...

I wish we could pick up boxes is Canada for $70! The dollar makes it hard to justifiably bust wax. I do it for hobby not to sell but a guy still wants to feel he got good value from a box. I must say I'll miss the idea of Panini, brought competition, if someone would've steped in and limited each company to X number of boxes each then the market wouldn't have seemed flooded, competition drives for new, better product and better customer care. Either way I'm hooked so I'll keep buying! Good luck in all your breaks!

The only replacement I asked from Panini turned out great for me.

    Was supposed to receive:

2012-13 Limited Phenoms AU RC /299 Ryan Garbutt

    Replaced with:

2013-14 Totally Certified Rookie Jersey Auto Blue Prime /25 Nathan Beaulieu

    Was very satisfied with it.

But I must admit that your replacement is pretty disappointing.. :(

Since Panini left.... there hasn't been a dubnyk card produced by UD.... It's been a very slow year for me... also the first year I haven't bought a box... Now a days, you can buy that one high end single on ebay for the price of a wax box without any risk. As for the redemption problem, I wait, and buy the redeemed card when its live (cant really do that when you pull the redemption, but would probably sell to save the trouble). I've learned in the past never to deal with card companies as little as possible as they have been known to lack in the customer service/support

But as a side note... With Panini gone.... Has value of cards increased? UD's quality better? Service any better? Hobby strengthened?? All the promises that people assumed with Panini's departure? I haven't been noticing any improvements....Maybe it's too soon to tell, and who am I to question it as I am more of a spectator.

Speaking of Panini, a little off topic............ I was cruising the eBay for Keslers and I came across a Back to the Future Linden / Kesler auto /25. Never seen one before in 3 years of collecting. I Buyed It Now and that was that. Then this morning the same seller has ANOTHER one up for sale, along with a whole bunch of Certified Clear Cloth Golds /10. Along with a bunch of football and baseball and Americana cards. The Americana cards looked reallllllllll familiar, I'd seen them somewhere before, but where?

DING! Panini Rewards! A few months ago there was next to no hockey in there, now there's 2140 hockey cards up for grabs! ITG has Vault, Panini has the rewards site.................

Most Panini products from there last stint in Hockey are littered with no names and the value is decent. Upper Deck has better designs and am glad they have the exclusive so Panini can not own every exclusive and give us points cards.

Look at it this way. Using 2013-14 as the reference, UD put out 14 different boxes of cards (13 if you combine UDS1&2), Panini put out 13 and ITG put out 9. Out of those 35 stand alone products, about 10 total (guessing) have held their value in secondary market and/or increased. Panini drops in value for the secondary market but blows UD out in terms of artwork and design. UD blows Panini out of the water with secondary value on average. The only way to fix it this year is to have UD produce more quality products and get rid of the fluff. That means no more Team Canada, Trilogy, SPGU, SPx, Black Diamond and the stuff that really doesn't hold much value except for 1-3 cards in the product. Personally, I would produce less of each product and keep the print run down on them to help hold value and satisfy the collector, which is what the hobby is about. Make it fun to open the boxes again, not fun to resell on ebay/sites.
In 2014-15 (this season), UD alone will relase 20 (I could be off by 1 or 2) stand alone products. Personally I think that's about 10 too many, leaving room for the same square swatch on the $5-$10 bv GU card of the same 2nd-3rd line or 2nd pairing defenseman of a game/expo-worn jersey or a 3/4"x3/4" sqare of some other piece of equipment that the player touched/used. Overall this has to stop. Personally, i'd bring the product count down, expand/combine some of the products (SP everything).
