I thought some of Panini's designs and ideas were actually pretty cool. The Prime Colors set, amazing. Manufacters Mark's are awesome cards if you get them. Classic Signatures was a great looking set. I also think the National Treasures Set from last year is pretty nice looking, specificallly the RC's Sure there's some bad stuff but you can't say UD's designs are that far ahead of them. Sure UD1/UD2 is typically a great set with a good set of photos (Canvas as well) but personally some of the stuff UD sends out is ugly as can be.

Since Panini left.... there hasn't been a dubnyk card produced by UD.... It's been a very slow year for me... also the first year I haven't bought a box... Now a days, you can buy that one high end single on ebay for the price of a wax box without any risk. As for the redemption problem, I wait, and buy the redeemed card when its live (cant really do that when you pull the redemption, but would probably sell to save the trouble). I've learned in the past never to deal with card companies as little as possible as they have been known to lack in the customer service/support

But as a side note... With Panini gone.... Has value of cards increased? UD's quality better? Service any better? Hobby strengthened?? All the promises that people assumed with Panini's departure? I haven't been noticing any improvements....Maybe it's too soon to tell, and who am I to question it as I am more of a spectator.

And I pretty much agree with this entire post completely, and I feel your pain. Although there's about 100 parallels I'll never grab or see, at least Panini was producing Clutterbuck's, and throwing in some Stempniak's here and there.

Now I'm just back to getting UD & OPC every year. Gets boring

Hopefully for you Dubnyk will get some love in the near future as he's a Vezina finalist this year.

That's true for Upper Deck too. At least prior to this year, since I have not opened any UD product this year to see for myself. But it is true for all of the cards companies.

I think Panini had a lot of growing pains in the beginning, and as soon as they finally found their stride, they lose the license.

Five years ago, I bought only UD and ITG boxes and Panini singles. By last year, it was only ITG and Panini boxes and UD singles. Since the last lockout, I even skipped UD Series 1 & 2 and SPA. 14/15 SPA will be my first UD box in a while.

Who didn't enjoy pulling GUs of Glen Murray and Georges Laraque from this years UD. You also have a better chance of finding a tooth in your chicken than an Auto in many UD products.

Any product is loaded with no names. That's just how it goes. As stated above, you can get the typical Laraque or Murray GU from UD. Unless you hit a nice patch or RC, UD SPGU is pretty much worthless as well

Ever opened a box of 11-12 SPGU? $130+ for $1 jersey cards and $3 autos. Same value as the contenders but contenders is more fun to break.
