Well as bad as paypal is they are also good.

    - Best Security
    - Will basically cover the buyer NO MATTER WHAT
    - Fast, Easy interface

but the fact of the matter is they are greedy and as 100s of millions of consumers use paypal they know we will still use their service no matter what. Especially since you need it to buy off eBay.

    That's just it

They can raise the fees all they want. If I spent $20 on eBay, it still just costs me $20. It's just less in the pocket of whomever the seller is.

It's the selling online that gets more and more expensive to do.

That said they did give everybody a little bone with the PayPal.me thing. So it's easier to get money sent to you so they can take more of their cut. LOL

They do now provide SELLER protection against both unauthorized transactions and ITEMS NOT RECEIVED disputes. AFAIK this is new, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. If it is new, it may make the fee increase a little easier to swallow.

I'm in the payments space and I'm little surprised by this move. There is pretty significant downward pressure on merchant rates today - an increase like this goes against the market. Furthermore, the Paypal Ebay split will lead to more options in Ebay for sellers - at some point it makes sense for anyone selling over 20K in cards per year to move to a true merchant account/gateway and get away from the high trans fee's of PayPal. I mean, it's not like PayPal has been innovative - they got beat to market on mobile by Square and are getting kicked around on the Gateway side by Stripe and has a case to make for higher fee's, they are basically the same company they were 5 years ago.

If anyone here is a merchant and needs any advice on payment acceptance I'd be happy to help via PM.

Thing is though how do you get your money back as easy when using non-paypal payment is item isn't delivered? eBay/Paypal buyer protection works very well and with sellers required to have signature confirmation it works. Does non-Paypal payment processors require online sellers to have tracking with signature in order to win/lose disputes?

Crypto currency can't come fast enough. Get rid of the middle men only looking to ever increase the squeeze they have on consumers. There are options for buying / selling / refunds like Escrow

It's new to me. It's about time because eBay went way overboard to protect the buyer (which I am the majority of the time). I'm still mad I can't leave negative feedback to deadbeat "buyers".

eBay's shipping discount helps a little too. But between eBay and PayPal, selling is not nearly as lucrative as it used to be for the casual seller cleaning out the basement or attic.

Ebay buyer protection will cover you - PayPal protection is an unnecessary layer on items purchased through Ebay. Merchant account providers have their own charge back processes. If I buy from an online vendor using my Visa I am covered if the item doesn't arrive. So If I buy a few boxes from say Blowout, and they can't prove delivery, I can contest the transaction with my credit card company and I'm covered.
