Looking for new insert set suggestions!

I sold off about 90% of my traders last fall and haven't made a trade in almost a year but i just spent a few hours over the past few days updating my traders and want list.

I enjoy collecting inserts sets and am currently working on a few different once but a couple are close to complete so im looking to add a couple new sets to the PC. I have missed a bunch of releases lately so im looking for some help from board members!

    I am looking for:

a couple different sets that have shiny/refractor/sparkly/diecut type cards
a set that is dedicated to retired Hockey Legends
A set that is dedicated to rookies or top prospects type thing
a set that is acetate cards

Doesn't need to be a from a new release as i am sure there are tons of nice sets that i haven't seen before or overlooked in the past. No particular preference but not really interested in stuff from S1&2 like shining stars as they are everywhere and too easy to do. And of course just looking for cheap sets nothing super fancy and expensive (im broke LOL)

Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give

The global impact set in ice looks quite nice. I'm tempted with as I finished quite a few insert sets recently.
There is quite a few in full force. I did goooals, but there is few others.
I also recently finished 12-13 classic signatures banner numbers.
Score net cams are nice if you like goalies.

Go for stuff from the early / mid 90s. Unless you happen to get a set with Iginla, the set will be focused on retired stars :)

I think you just described OPC Platinum.

a set that is acetate cards

How much money do you have? I bet a complete set of Acetate Young Guns would look pretty sweet!

OPC Platinum sounds like a good set for you, especially with all the crazy parallels this year. Here's my 80% done Carey Price rainbow:

Within the release there are other die-cut insert sets (Trophied Talents and the Team Logos look cool), as well as sets dedicated to retired players and rookies. There's no acetate content, but it hits 3 of your main 4 criteria.

Plus, it's a relatively inexpensive break and you get a shiny thing in just about every pack.

Thanks for the input guys! I just checked out this years opc platinum and really like all of the cards so i think instead of a bunch of different insert sets i am going to attempt the master set for opc platinum, minus the autographs. A different kind of challenge in the same realm.

I worked on this last year. OPC Platinum dries up fast. Lots come up a lot less frequently and then it gets to a point where you accumulate too many doubles when buying lots.

I got to just over 600 cards before calling it quits ..... the cards just dried up here as well, or people were wanting an arm and a leg for $1 parallels.

My master set included: ( 200 in each set )

    - Base
    - Rainbows
    - Traxx
    - White /199
    - Red /135
    - Blue /65
    - Gold /50
    - Black /25

Was almost at 40% when I called it quits, with completed Base and Rainbow sets ..... along with very big dents in White / Red / Blue ( almost 70% of white and red were completed, maybe 50% of blue ).

I suggest picking a color or 2 you really like and go from there. The traxx are very nice looking and do fall 2 per box ( not to mention are the cheapest ).

Once you figure out which Platinum route to go shoot me a PM, have a good 20 - 30 parallels right now ( with a nice amount of decent Traxx RCs ) and there are a ton I can pick up in that $1 - $1.50 range at my LCS.

EDIT - I forgot to mention how hard the Blacks in 14/15 were to come buy. I only have about 25 - 30 of them ........ not to mention a pretty big money guy is going after the Emerald set right now as well
