How do you value these buybacks/confirm they are the real deal? I have a someone offesring me a 2012-13 Fleer Retro 97-98 Metal Universe 25 Nicklas Lidstrom Detroit Red Wings Auto 1/2, but how do I know it was actually part of the buyback and not a in person signing that they asked to be inscribed that way?

There should be a COA with it.
I'll use this eBay auction as an example:

Since this thread has been brought back up again, has anyone heard rumblings of a 2016-2017 BuyBacks product yet? I would suspect a product like this is hard to scrounge together, so may we can expect a hold over until 2017-2018 BuyBack product?

I thought they said it was really expensive to produce and probably won't be doing it again? I don't have a quote/link, just from what I read around on the forums about it.

IMO its better if they dont do this every year. Not even every few years. Maybe like twice a decade kinda thing.
They cant put the same Buybacked cards out ( or shouldnt or they would kill the values ) and they do use a ton of cards in this seeing as nothing is over xx/91 I believe. Cards that would not really take as much of a hit are the non auto rookie cards, but once you have a Tavares Buyback YG /91, theres no way UD would be dumb enough to put another round of /91 Tavares YGs out.
That being said, there are a ton more YGs to choose from.
