The Caps sent a Player along with the 1st & 2nd rounders as well but i cannot recall who it was. A high price to pay.. Shattenkirk is a good player but i dont know if he was worth all that..

The Caps gave up Zach Sanford in the deal. He's been up for a bit, but played sparingly on the 3rd/4th lines. Not sure I saw enough to give an accurate preview. Didn't stick out either way. The draft picks I heard were a 1st and conditional 2nd, but Goose97's article says conditional picks. Hopefully, it's just a conditional if he re-signs (although that seems unlikely), but it could also depend on how far we get in the playoffs (as that seems to be a popular condition).

The good news I read in the article is that we got Phoenix Copley back. He was the goalie we sent to StL in the Oshie deal. He is good, and with the likelihood that we are going to lose Grubauer in the Expansion draft, it is good to get another quality goalie in the system. The Washington Post was saying our GM was looking for a third goalie because they weren't happy with anyone in Hershey for the future.

So at first I thought we paid too much. But after hearing about Copley, I am OK with the trade. Basically, a late 1st rounder in a poor draft for a rental Dman. The prospects even each other out, and the 2nd is conditional, so I guess we'll be happy (hopefully) about something if we have to give that up.
