Lol i was a Leafs fan in B.C. too but i knew enough not to say we"re going to win the Cup.. Ive been a Leafs fan since the 70's & there have been alot of bad years, way more than the few good years that we had gilmour & the few playoff years with the Sundin group.. Its basically been dismal & the first time in a long time things look a little bright in Leafs Nation. I have buddies who are Sens fans so i razz them & they do the same to me afterall its for bragging rights in Ontario & though the Sens have not done much either lately they are still way up on us..

Not having to protect Fillpula is no big deal, since he would have been OK if Vegas took him. (In fact, he would have been more than happy if Vegas took Val because that would have taken his contract and not allowed another player to be taken. But I am sure he was positive McPhool wouldn't have touched him.) He did the deal to get Filppula's contract off his roster next year so he could sign his RFAs. So he spent a 7th rounder and moved down in the 4th round (from probably Top 10 to Bottom 5) to get rid of a one-year contract. Probably a smart move, but not an insignificant cost.Last edited by Sharky94; 03-01-2017 at 06:46 PM.

Doug Wilson never ceases to amaze me. He has the capacity to make good trades when he has time to think about them (Burns, Thornton). But when he gets to the Trade Deadline, he always panics and uses up whatever good karma he acquires when he actually thinks. A 1st rounder and another pick for Jannik Hansen? Really? A 30-year-old 3rd line winger for a 21-year-old first-round sniper? You really think Jannik Hansen is the "missing piece" that is going to bring a Cup? How about a serviceable 3rd pair Dman to replace that traffic cone Brenden Dillon who got torched in last year's Finals? The Pens didn't skate past the Sharks because their 3rd line wasn't good enough. They won because the Sharks' 3rd pair defensemen were abused. Nearly every 5-on-5 goal that was scored by the Pens was when Dillon and Polack were on the ice. And they were often torched when Nick Bonino was on the ice -- a former Sharks first round draft pick that Wilson traded away at a Trade Deadline. You would think he would have learned his lesson from that!Last edited by Sharky94; 03-01-2017 at 07:05 PM.
