While the two quarterbacks may be "even" Cousins has a much higher upside than Alex Smith and I think the deal hurts both teams unless the Chiefs sign another starting QB (which it doesn't look like they are going to do). The Redskins might as well rebuild after this deal as I think Alex Smith with this team is headed for a disaster and the Chiefs are putting too much faith in their rookie QB. So I see both teams taking a step back next year which could be good for the Raiders as the AFC West continues to get weaker in my opinion.

If Cousins goes to Denver they will be much improved.

as a Bills fan, I am extremely happy that Alex Smith did not end up coming to Buffalo. While he'd be an upgrade to Tyrod, he is the type of QB that the Bills have been running with since 1997 and is not going to push them over the top

    I agree 100%

Who would you like them to draft out of Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson and Mason Rudolph? I think they'd have to trade up, maybe with the Bucs at #7 to nab Allen or Mayfield but they could probably get Jackson or Rudolph with their #21 pick.

Latest news I read is that the Skins still may franchise tag Cousins so that way they can then trade him to at least get some compensation rather than just letting him walk.

I doubt that happens as that would be insanely risky as they can't afford his tag and Smith and the other players they'll need to sign ... and every team will know that and likely just refuse to offer the Redskins anything in trade for Cousins, as they'll all know the Skins will be forced to cut Cousins and let him go for nothing.

If that was the Skins plan, they should have franchised him right away and had a "verbal deal" with the Chiefs to complete the trade for Smith as soon as Cousins was traded ... it's like the Skins are being run by children ... it's all very strange.

I'm with you. It's nothing new though. This organization has made terrible decision after terrible decision. It's very tough being a fan.

The guy I would love to see them draft would be josh Allen. This is a guy that was coached by Craig bohl (Carson wentz college coach) and I think given the right coaching, could become the best quarterback in this draft

The other guy I would consider is Rudolph- I doubt mayfield will be around past 6

I just read this, I don’t understand what Washington is doing. Seriously... you made your decision on this by trading for Alex smith, don’t create more of a headache in the hope of getting an extra pick

What would YOU have done with Cousins this year ... re-signed him? Traded for Smith? Or, drafted a new QB ... and if so, WHICH college QB would you have favored?

Exactly ... the Redskins' brass seems clueless ...

Allen has great athleticism and an absolutely ELITE arm ... in fact, I think when he enters the league he'll automatically have the biggest arm in the entire NFL, ahead of Rodgers and Roethlisberger. However, he is RAW and may not be ready to play for 2 years or so ... maybe the Redskins still draft him, though I doubt it and I sort of think he'll be taken in the top 10, maybe by the Cardinals or Bills in a trade up into the top 10.
