The brother of minister Melanie Joly is the president and CEO of Intelcom, a big company of parcel delivery, that's the reason they want things to go wrong at CP.

I doubt the federal government is willing to destroy Canada Post just to help an MP's brother.

Would have been nice if cp accepted the 2 week extension my the union not to strike. Everything still in transit could have been delivered

I'd almost prefer they strike and get it over with. I still can't count on buying anything, or sending anything out while we're stuck in this "will they/won't they" phase. I'm assuming they could call for a strike any time.

I got a delivery today. No strike yet, just refusal to do overtime. Apparently this is a tactic, and employees also start doing only one thing, as is their job title, and in only their own department. So less work is done and things start to back up with no overtime allowed.
But as stated above by someone, the strike can happen at any time and we're stuck in the "will they or won't they" phase which could just be the precursor to an actual strike with no movement. So this whole situation could literally last for months. I lost a lot of money during the last strike (mostly mail not showing up for a 30+ day period after the strike ended) and cannot buy/sell like I usually do. Just cannot trust the situation to be resolved and the strike not to start at any given time.Master List: Hidden Content

Mélanie Joly is the federal government with her friends at the liberal party.

Yeah, I'm sorry. There's no convincing me the federal government, regardless of what party is in power, is willing to destroy a 150+ year crown corporation that the entire country depends on, just to throw some business at an MP's brother. It just seems too far fetched to me.

Only logical explanation to why they waited so long to put people back to work in the december strike. They wanted the customers to try the services of the competitors for the holidays. Also, Trudeau reversed in 2015 the program of Harper to keep CP viable, deficits explosed from there.

I agree with your second point. I didn't in 2015, but I'm realizing I may have been wrong. I'm not knowledgeable enough about the topic to have a definitive opinion. Your first point is more conspiracy theory than explanation, though. A more logical explanation is left-leaning governments are less likely to force unionized people on a legal strike back to work. Also, it wasn't popular with the NDP, and the Liberals counted on their support to get propped up. Just off the top of my head those two ideas make more sense.
