    I have had this discussion numerous times. I will tell you before I begin, I am a ps3 fan but I will list points for both here.

    ps3 pros
    System is VERY strong. I had my ps2 for 7 years and no problems. Ps3 is running at that level
    Blu Ray player
    Free Internet
    Better quality games(this is with the minor stuff. Example: Burnout paradise does not allow others to see your damage as the 360 couldn't handle it)

    xbox pros
    Multiple features on your Internet play
    MONEY
    An abundance of games
    More people play the 360
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    ps3 cons
    Very few ps3 exclusives
    Price tag
    A very basic Internet feature(I will admit, something like the 360's would be great. Lets see what the new "Home" does for the ps3)
    Game developers not paying attention to the ps3(Call of Duty 4 will have the new maps released on the 360 21 days before the ps3, getting a beta version of the new Battlefield. Although some say more gamers to attend to, I say Microsoft has put some money under the table)
    360 cons
    Red rings of death(Some have gotten quite lucky in not having this issue, others have had to fix their system 3-4 times. Would you want to take the chance on that. Warranty or no warranty)
    Lack of good exclusives (for as many games released, you think more of them would be a success)
    No blu-ray
    Having to buy a new part for every feature(I heard you have to now buy a cooling fan, separate hard drive, separate HD drive etc..........)
    The bottom line
    Those are some of the biggest glaring differences between the two systems. Recently I posted an article as well that stated Sony will consider working a deal with Microsoft to change the 360's Elite package to include a Blu-Ray player. This was a very early deal and there were no incentives at the time for Sony other then Blu-Ray sales.
    If Sony does not get the rights to release more of the 360 exclusive games on their system, I would strongly pushing more towards the 360. At this time, if money was an issue, I would tell everybody go to the ps3. We will just have to wait and see how much Sony values their video game industry. A lot of unhappy gamers would join me if Sony doesn't get 360 exclusives in return for blu-ray rights.
    Jay - just so you know the ring of death has not been an issue with the 360 Elite, Also you can buy the basic system for the 360 without the hard drive however I would not do that. Also the Biggest hard drive for the PS3 is 80 the 360 is 120. Daniel.
    The Red Ring of Death occurs in older systems where there was a failure mechanically of something in the machine. 99% of those have been fixed with XBOXs released after September, 2007.
    I own both of them and I have to give the edge to the PS3. I also love the fact that I can watch Blu-Rays on the PS3. Xbox 360 does have a much better network than PS3 (but the PS3 online network is free). They both have pros and cons.
    Xbox 360 is looking at adding Blu-Ray to future versions or allowing for a Blu-Ray addon to be purchased seperatly.
    I love my PS3...you can't beat a Blu-Ray built in! But if you're getting a system for strictly online, go with a 360. Like others have mentioned, since the PS3 is free online, it's laggy. 360 will cost for online play, but it's worth it.
    I think the PS3 is a better system...I'm glad I have one over a 360.
    If you like racing games then get a PS3 and buy Gran Turismo 5 Prologue...
