I think the Vikes need a top-notch DE. Phillip Merling would be sweet for them

With the 18th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select Kenny Phillips - Safety / Miami Fl / 6'2 / 212 lbs

Phillips may not be a glaring "need" for the Texans, but it was hard to pass him up. Kenny is clearly the best safety in the draft. With great size and speed, his athleticism and ball skills have been somewhat over looked. Much like the other greats to come out of the U, Phillips will knock you out or take one to the house - whatever is needed from him. In his 3 years at Miami, Phillips recorded 241 tackles and 7 picks.

The Texans organization expects Kenny to step in and make an immediate impact on a defense that has gotten nothing but stronger over the last 2 years.

Limas Sweed was highly reguarded in our war room, but was determined that he was simply a mirror image of AJ, and just wouldn't have fit opposite each other on the field. There just wasn't enough value with the available speed receivers to pull the trigger at the 18 slot. The fact that we dont have a 2nd round pick, it was necessary to grab an impact player if one was on the board, and we expect Kenny Phillips to be just that guy.

wish screwing the eagles was my motive!! was just the best guy on the board that they could use in my opinion.....i think jonathan stewart could fall to them, and probably could have taken 1 of the big name CBs, but i think phillips is a good fit on a young, fast, up and comming defense.

Actually, I lied if this scenario were to play out the Eagles would be ecstatic because the top CB on our board is still there. Lito Sheppard will be traded on draft day. We are looking for impact in our secondary to cause turnovers and a presence in our return game. The best corner and one of the top returners in the draft remains at this spot and we could not be more happy.

The Eagles select Leodis McKelvin, CB from Troy. He will fit in as a nickel corner this season and have an immediate impact on our special teams. In the next year or two, we will be looking to move Sheldon Brown to Safety and McKelvin will fill in opposite Asante.

***Disclaimer, McKelvin will not be available when the Eagles are on the clock***

I think he'll be gone as well. I could see the Pats grabbing him.

With the 20th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Malcolm Kelly - WR / Oklahoma / 6'4 / 224 lbs

Since winning the Super Bowl in 2003, the Bucs have struggled not only to stay healthy, but in their draft room. Their defense continues to be dominant, but are still waiting for some of their top picks to pan out on both sides of the ball, and are in need of an impact player - Malcolm Kelly is just that guy. A big, powerful receiver that will go over the middle, out leap defenders, and catch TDs. With an aging Joey Galloway, a few mediocre acquisitions, and a few guys that just haven't panned out, Kelly could add a great deal of confidence and consistancy to the Bucs receiving corps

since im picking who i think they would actually pick (and not basing this on my own opinions) i gotta add a few notes

    - i think malcom kelly is a better receiver than limas....identical players (height/weight/speed/), and played the same big 12 schedules, but like the durability and experience of kelly - should be picked over limas but likely wont

    - i think limas will be taken by the time the bucs hit the clock, which is why i made the kelly pick.....they were both obviously on the board here, and alot of people have limas rated higher than kelly, which would make limas the proper pick here......shoot, i wouldn't be shocked if they were both gone by the bucs pick, which means funny faces from jon gruden during draft day interviews

REDSKINS ARE ON THE CLOCK - WILL GET TO IT LATER THIS EVENING!!

I like the Malcolm Kelly pick for the Bucs. They need to new talent in there and Clayton and Stovall aren't pulling their weight yet.
