I was 19 my senior year. The point is simple:

Yes, people have the right to carry guns, but, concomitantly, people have the right to ban guns from their property.

what if its public property? (a public school)

Also, people have the right to practice whatever religion they want, but does that mean, if i own a private commercial airline, i can ban any muslims from boarding my planes?

If it's public property, then it's in the hands of the public and those who run the facility. I'm confused, though... are you telling me that I'm wrong? People do not have the legal right to say guns cannot be on their property? I really don't see what point you're trying to make.

Im just hypothetically trying to determine your position on different gun related issues (such as, should it be allowed on private/public grounds).
If we're talking public property, it should follow the law of the land (should be allowed). If a public school run by christians wanted ID taught instead of evolution, it wouldnt be allowed because its a public school. "those who run the facility" dont have final say when it comes to constitutional rights. Students at public schools shouldnt have their right to protect themselves infringed upon.
As for private schools, im more likely to agree that it should be up to the school, as I dont want government interfering. But i would hope that more private schools would see the benefits of allowing this fundamental right; but they shouldnt be required to.

Unfortunately the government interferes in all kinds of private institutions. In Maryland? at least Montgomery and Prince Georges county you are not allowed to smoke in ANY building/structure other than your own home. Even if you're a one man operation running a little paper delivery service and you're the only one who's ever in the warehouse you're, by law, not allowed to smoke there. If you're a member of The Knights Of Columbus, as private an organization as it gets, and 90% of the membership votes it okay to smoke in the council building, TOO BAD, the government says NO.

The whole foundation of America is freedom ! It's contrary to logical thought, but the more freedom people have the better decisions, overall, they make. The more restrictions you put on the general population, things get really screwy.
