Exclamation Needed: Your Input for a Press Pass Interview

    Hi gang,

As many of you may know, the 2008 Nationals is just around the corner (July 30th - August 3rd). This year Sports Card Forum will have a booth at the convention and there will be lots of happenings in store for visitors that stop by.

One of the things that is being worked on is an interview (podcast ?) with some of the Press Pass reps that will be in attendance at the show. We would like to see some questions/suggestions from the racing community members in any areas relating to Press Pass racing cards and future products.

Please post your questions, ideas or suggestions and we will try and sort through and figure out how many we can get answered or addressed in our allotted time. Please be respectful with your questions or suggestions and keep them somewhat limited. Remember, we are trying to get as many answered/addressed as possible, but we don't want questions or suggestions that will be just putting the reps on the spot.

We will be deciding on the content for the interview in the next week or so to allow for prep time prior to the convention.

Hopefully this will be one more opportunity to let Press Pass know things about what us, the collectors would like to see with future products and keep an open line of communication between Press Pass and us, the collectors.

Thanks in advance and we're looking forward to seeing some great questions and suggestions!

    The SCF Racing Team

Alright, I have a suggestion of a kind of card I'd like to see. Anyone who collects other sports may have seen the "letterman" cards in which they have a letter from a jersey on a card. How about a NASCAR sheet metal version that uses the driver signature that's above the door.

I would be interested if they are going to do a super premium like in Hockey the have the Cup also in other sports Elite etc... I'd love to see a special tin like a car with guarnteed auto, race used, gold base for the special set, etc in every tin. That would be nice.

How about more creativity with some of the race used. Like mentioned above. I'd like to see larger sheet metal cards, even with the autos right on the piece. Like they do in hockey they have signature swatches etc...

I can answer that one without PP ....in most other sports you have at least 100 different players to make gu and au of...
with Nascar you have a very limited field...even if you placed all 43 cup drivers in the RU category you still are looking at less than half of other sports pool for cards...
and as frustrating as it can be to open a $100 box and only have one hit...how many $100 boxes of other sports have 3 or 4 hits that are not worth the one hit out of a racing box...
this has been one of the biggest problems in being attempting to trade or sell to people that aren't familar with Nascards.... nascar cards hold value better because of supply and demand...in most other sports the market is flooded with super low end box fillers...game used bats ...jerseys ...some are so mass produced that they don't even have an individual serial # on them....
the closest thing that Nascar has to mass produced RU would be eclipse car covers...I believe the average on them was 2 or 3 per box ..plus an auto....even though it may be a bunch of fun to pull 3 or 4 hits per box...if those hits are Sterlin Marlin car covers ..and Jeff Green shoes...would it be more worthwhile to open?

What I would like to see (and I realize this is my pipe dream) is 1 set a year where every driver, all 3 series, are included instead of having 6 cards of Jr, Gordo, JJ, and yes even Smoke. I realize that is difficult due to all the sponsers, teams, and drivers but good grief...there are drivers who were in the top 35 last year with 0 cards this year and people out of the top 35 who were heavily represented.

Please Please Please drop the corporate cuts. Those are as bad as the photo shoot Jersey cards in football.

Larger swatches on the race used product would be nice. Have a redemption program for a 5x7 sized card with a "super swatch" of sheetmetal #ed to say 25

One thing the NASCAR product has avoided has been the decal/sticker autographs. Let's keep it that way please.

Keep our interest. Throw us some pizzaz...NASCAR fans are traditionally a bit different the the stick and ball collectors.

well-I as well would like to see bigger memorabilia pieces. With the COT I would also ask them if they can do RU splitter cards-would be kinda neato lol. Anyways-I think PP is doin a pretty good job. As someone said earlier-no sticker autos-real on card autos are SO muc better.

Also I think PP should just do a set with the best photos possible of racing action-there are too many cards with a boring pic of the driver etc-show us the car racing, the driver doing something-I always was a fan of stadium club in other sports-where the best photos were on the card-do it with nascar!!

how about suggesting them to not send back hand written numbered cards when you send in numbered cards to be replaced. or at the very least send a coa with them if they are gonna send hand written replacements. it makes it real tough to trade or sell hand written replacements.

That's a very good point some of them look like a 2 year old got a hold of them. If they can't put the original numbers back on at least a small certified number sticker or something. Any thing is better than the gold or silver paint marker, can hardly read them.
