s13driver, it's cool your wife gives you that kind of budget for cards. My wife is becoming more understanding of me getting back into the hobby, but there isn't much money left after the normal monthly expenses and saving for retirement. I'm almost 29 and am a commercial underwriter for an insurance agency. I also play golf which eats into the hobby budget. Besides my birthday and Christmas, I just make sporadic trips to one of my local shops.

I'm 19 and I have 2 jobs (as an assistant to an assistant of a music company and an assistant to an accoutant), go to school, and have a girlfriend who loves that I have a hobby. I get paid $1,500 a week and I give about a third of that to my parents, spend another $300 for rent and then the rest is savings/buying what my girl wants.

Cards take a backseat to friends and family; I love this hobby, but I will not fork over more than $300 monthly to Upper Deck and Topps.

Wow...I'd buy a lot of cards with that weekly salary.

I have the urge to do so, but then I would live in a box on the street with no girlfriend, and a sign that reads "Please help support my addiction" lol. This is a hobby, not a lifestyle, so remember who and what you live for ;)
