Sorry but if Ledger hadn't have passed there is no way they would even be talking about giving him an award.

His death has certainly helped as far as the coverage the movie has gotten but when it comes to his performance, I thought he was absolutely outstanding.

When saw the first trailer for this movie, when Ledger was still alive, I was amazed/horrified at how crazy he looked. He does a fantastic job, straddling the fence between a happy-go-lucky killer and an insane torturing, i.e., "Let's put a smile on that face!" and "Why so serious?" The way he dropped his voice and was no longer a funny Joker for those two lines was amazing.

Well, I guess 99% of the world is just crazy then...lol.

Can't disagree more. I thought yeah, this is probably overhyped too, but good god he was fantastic. Please someone enlighten me as to which actor has put on a better overall performance this year...cause I can't think of one.

Gotta agree. This may come across sounding stupid, but at no time did I think I was watching Heath Ledger. He was the Joker. To be able to pull that off with a character as insane as they made the Joker is amazing.

Exactly. It's even more amazing because he's never done something so out-there like this before.

Dark Knight crossed the 400 mil mark in record fashion. By the end of this weekend it should be at $440 million. Movie should hit $500 million by the end of this month.

BTW, I just watched the original Batman last night (it's been awhile), and yes it's still a classic (especially to me, I'm just a big Batman freak) but man, Ledger blows Jack out of the water....not even close. Please, before U kill me, watch it again, and you'll laugh. The Dark Knight (and Batman begins) blows that old one away too. The Dark knight is very true to the original comics, not like Tim Burtons made up little world in the original.
U ever watch some old movies now, and think WOW, this is so bad compared to stuff today.... well, that hit me big time last night.
