Nice card but I'll have to pass. Are or were you a Tim Brown fan?

I bought newer stuff and rookies up till this year. I decided to put more money into established players and HOF'ers than newer products and rookies. I still buy the low end (10 buck blasters) for the joy of opening packs and finding players I like. I left the hobby from 98-04 so I never became attached to the game used or auto cards.

My younger brother was a Raider fan. IDK why he chose them, gues he liked the black and silver colors. His favorite player was Tim Brown. My brother ended up liking Notre Dame too. I'm 28 now, he is 26, we both grew up in the same NFL era. But one of the first football cards I recall getting from a pack was a 89 Pro Set Tim Brown. I still have that card, its in horrible shape though. I dont know why I bought the graded though, guess I wasn't thinking at the time. I was on a grading kick, spent $400 bucks on my first bGS submission, most were bad submits. I id much better on my other entries.

I do agree with your thinking on staying away from the new rookie stuff. A real gamble IMO.

However, in regard to Brown, I'd like to pick up a nice auto/gu card of his at some point.

That would be a nice pick-up. I hope he gets into the Hall of Fame. He was a dominant WR.

Yea, gambling 300 bucks on rookie would scare me. I buy for my PC but seeing a card drop $250 would kill me.

When I got back into collecting I actually bought a box of 89 Pro Set series 2 b/c I always loved the design of the set. I'm sad to say I like all of the Pro Set products.LOL

Have you had good luck on your submissions?

LOL I just finished putting a whole set of 89 Pro Set together. I have loads of older boxes stuffed in closets too. I think the 89 Pro Set is one of my favorites. It is above and beyond the other Pro Set releases in design, IMO of course.

My last submission was 9/10 BGS 9.5. I had one BGS 9, which was only one .5 grade off from being that GEM. I knew the centering was off a bit, thought the other areas were strong enough to bring it up. I believe you saw the thread over on Beckett.

This is the best of the last submission, a very stong 9.5:

I love those older cards from 87-93. A lot of my extras are in that pile I've got going for you already.

I wonder if there is a BGS submission group on here. I'd love to hop on a larger order and grade some low end cards. At $5-$6 a card, it is just much better. My first larger order came at a cost of like 12 bucks a card and most came back 8.5-9 lol. Big Mistake.

I usually only have a handful of cards to send at a time, ya know.

Yep, I remember the thread-nice Payton. I'm a big fan of the older cards as well, probably b/c that's when I was collecting the most.

90 might be my favorite Pro Set set. I bought a complete one after getting back into the hobby. I have it in a huge binder since it's 800 plus cards with the subsets.

Eventually I'd love to buy a bunch of the older cheaper sets.

5-6 bucks is alot more budget friendly.

Nice pickups there. I bought about 5 raw Campbell RCs over the past few years myself, one may be 8 worthy.

You have been picking up a ton of PSA lately, any reason? Price, availablility or are u just anti-beckett now lol?

I just happen to like PSA for older cards and they are more readily availible. I still like BGS for 1990 and older though BGS is fine for anthing older. I have also started a few PSA registries.

Do you have to be a PSA member to start a registry on their site?

Nope. I was worried about that as well. With Beckett messing their site up I started checking PSA registries out. I'm not giving up on BGS but I am buying more PSA as of late. I should have a BGS Smith to add to my registry next week though.
