You have some decent personnel and a pro bowl running back. To me that doesn't add up, even in the nfc. Here is how I rate the vikings


defense front 7- very good against the run only
secondary- average
offensive line- good on the left side and average on the right
qb- below average
wr- average
running back- excellent
special teams- above average


Having adrian peterson doesn't make a team playoff bound. If the vikings can't pass to loosen up the secondary peterson is going to face 7-8 men in the box and even he isn't good enough to beat those odds often enough to score enough points to keep a game close. Overall. the defense is good enough to stay in most games but they get burnt in the passing game more often than they should.
