Chris Rock...Kill the Messenger
Saturday on HBO....I can't wait! Easily a top 3 comedian of all time...he puts out one of these HBO specials about every 4 years, and I still laugh hysterically at every one of them
He's on Larry King right now cracking me up...and everybody else in studio....was on Letterman the other night too promoting this special....he just said he gave more interviews today than Palin has since she was announced as VP candidate
I'd post some of his previous standups, but I'm sure I'd get points for the profanity....
IF YOU'VE NEVER WATCHED A CHRIS ROCK STANDUP AND ENJOY LAUGHING....YOU MUST GO WATCH NOW!!!!

He is pretty funny but top 3 all time is a pretty lofty standard...

well, to be honest, I think he's #1....Dave Chappelle was giving him a run for his money, but Chappelle has basically disappeared

Well, I can agree with you on that part because Chappelle is my personal favorite. After him there are a number that I really like, most of whom don't really have enough stuff out there to be really considered an all time great. I've been pretty big on Mike Birbiglia lately but he hasn't really reached that status yet

mikes alright...i'm watching some of his stuff now! Another up & comer is that fat dood Ralphie May...but they're not on that level yet. There's A LOT of funny people out there who can do 10 minute routines, but I don't consider them able to hang with the big boys until they get half hour to an hour specials....
Have you watched Chris Rock's old HBO standups? Bring The Pain is from 1996, and it's still one of the funniest standups I've ever seen...and his others are great too

Yeah, definitely hasn't reached that level yet. Ralphia May is pretty good, not sure how into the political stuff you are but if you are Lewis Black is one of my personal favorites though he is pretty mainstream now. Another up and comer I'm a big fan of is Demetri Martin. I've seen some of Chris Rock's older stuff and it definitely is funny, not going to say it isn't, I've just seen so much comedy at this point that it's hard for me to really define top 3 etc.

I didn't know who lewis black was until I looked him up...but I've seen this guy before and he's hilarious...definitely funny!
I couldn't really define top 3 for you either...There's old school doods like Richard Pryor, George Carlin & Robin Williams who are funny as hell too, but I'm not sure I'd even have them in my top 3....I guess I'm just saying Chris Rock is my favorite, and has been since I first saw Bring The Pain back in 1996....Rock does a lot of political humor too....can't wait to see this special tomorrow night!

I wish I had HBO for this. I like Chris Rock a lot, but I can't put him in my top 3. George Carlin is my favorite of all time, and guys like Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor are just absolute classics. Throw in a guy like Seinfeld, who has been doing it forever and is still consistently funny, and that's possibly my top 5.

The best was one Larry King asks him, "You must be proud that we have a black man on a major ticket", to which Rock responds "I wouldn't be proud if it was Flavor Flav"
I was thinking though, are there any other Republican comedians beside Dennis Miller? It seems like all the funny people are Democrats...

yeah, 1987 Eddie Murphy would be in my top 3....Carlin & Pryor are up there, but Seinfeld is a different kind of humor that I'm not big into...trust me, I like Seinfeld and his TV show is one of the best ever, but he wouldn't be in my top 5
