Urine Test -- This guy has a point!
just tossing this out there
Just passing this on because i liked it
This was written by a construction worker in Fort McMurray
Read on . . .
I work, they pay me.I pay my taxes, and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay check, I work on a rig site for a Fort McMurray construction project. At any time, I am required to pass
a random urine test, with which I have no problem.
HOWEVER, what I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Understand - I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sit on their butt, drink beer and smoke dope. Could you imagine how much money
this country would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
If you agree, please pass this along, or simply delete if you don't.

i still don't understand this theory that everybody who gets public assistance sits on their butt, drinks & smokes dope all day...where does that come from?
You guys don't think there should be unemployment payments for people who get laid off? unemployment is based on the amount you make working...the more you earn, the higher your unemployment. You guys are against Food stamps? Poor people shouldn't eat or something? Against WIC checks for infants? Should children be able to see a doctor when they are sick? you against social security payments for disabled people?
i don't care if you're against these ideas, but how is that everybody who receives them has to be a drug addict or something? you have some figures to back up your theory, or just tossing it out there?

redgone - i don't know where the misconception comes in that when someone talks about welfare that they are referring to the things you listed. I have no problem with unemployment, mainly because it is not permanent. i have no problem with the other things you mentioned either.
The problem, and the stereotype that you referred to is that of people on welfare. Government money simply because they "need" it and can be on it from life to birth. Is the stereotype wrong? I wouldn't be the one to answer it. I know not all people on welfare are drug addicts who sit on their butts but I also know that there are a lot that fit that exact discription.

He's not saying that ALL people that are on public assistance are lazy drunks who smoke pot or do other drugs all day, he's just saying that some do. He's saying that the ones that are drug addicts or whatever shouldn't get assistance from those who arent. To me, that makes sense. Think about it, why should I take a urine test to make sure I'm clean so I can work and pay taxes to pay for public assistance for those who aren't clean.

this worker has a great point!! and sadly the sterotype is true in some cases. i knew people who would sell their food stamps and ebt cards just to get dope! i also stood behind a lady in a brand new fur coat buying a cart full of steaks and whip out the food stamps to pay for it. there is corruption in everything, and with everything it needs to be streamlined. Again this worker brings up a very valid point.

im still looking for this lifetime welfare you refer too? any ideas where i can find it? if your not against the programs i listed ensberg, which ones are you?
cash assistance? apparently in PA, you can get cash assistance for a lifetime total of 60 months, thats it, and there are requirements such as seeking full-time employment, attending job seeking seminars and job fairs, sign and follow through on an Agreement of Mutual Responsibility, which is a plan for what you will do to find permanent employment, you must have resources of less than $1000 (bank accounts, etc...)....i guess the working poor are really just lazy, no good, looking for the easy way out, down on their luck type afterall
and rather than advocate more urine tests for anybody, how about we get rid of them? certain jobs i can completely understand, but why does a person need a urine test to work at wal-mart, or other minimum wage jobs? and they don't test for alcohol anyway, the #1 most counter-productive drug in our society, so whats the point in testing for pot?

WillClark didnt write this, someone else did. And I agree with him. I'm all for helping the poor, I always give a spare dollar or two to a homeless guy who asks me for some. But why should the government give my tax money (that I work hard for) to some deadbeat. I mean, give it to the people who really need it, not the ones who spend it all on BS and drugs. I like the programs that give the poor, but not the "worthless poor" haha.
PS. Please dont take anything out of context because that is ridiculous.

what im asking is which programs give to the worthless poor? Google welfare in your state, and see what programs are offered? Where is this lifetime welfare for the "worthless poor"? I just don't see it, but I'm not an expert by any means, so maybe I'm just missing it.
and yes, I know willclark didn't write it, i've seen this email before...

Well, I'll look it up and see. But I wasnt trying to be specific on any particular program. I'm just saying there are some losers out there I dont want my tax money goin to, while there are some homeless or less-fortuanate people our there that I DO want it going to. I just dont want my tax-money being paid for drugs and booze. Thats all I'm saying.
