Yeah I've learned not to go back and watch movies you thought were great when you were a kid, a lot of them you realize weren't very good at all. I'd rather keep the good memories without realizing how bad my taste was back then...

Gotta agree with that!
I'd give a vote for Kevin Spacey...I don't think he's been the lead roll ever.

Actually Spacey's had a few leads and a lot of big parts:
The Usual Suspects (1995)...not technically the lead, but the focus of the whole story
L.A. Confidential (1997)...co-lead
The Negotiator (1998)...co-lead
American Beauty (1999)...lead
Pay It Forward (2000)...lead
Beyond the Sea (2004)...lead
I think I like him better for his supporting roles, but he's one of the big players, he's a lead actor.

I guess he has had a few leading roles...there is someone else that I'm thinking of as well who I can't remember right off hand...it's not Gary Sinise, but he's another good actor who isn't the star (I don't think).

Buscemi, I'm disappointed in myself for not having that one already. He's had a lead role or two, but nothing worth actually mentioning...the best funny-looking, quirky support ever.
Not a big fan of Fishburne, but he is good. I flat out don't like Rhames, but Marsellus Wallace alone makes him noteworthy.
Fishburne made me think of Delroy Lindo (I always get them confused)...he's pretty good too:
Malcolm X (1992) .... West Indian Archie
Crooklyn (1994) .... Woody Carmichael
Clockers (1995) .... Rodney Little
Get Shorty (1995) .... Bo Catlett
Ransom (1996) .... Agent Lonnie Hawkins
The Devil's Advocate (1997) (uncredited) .... Phillipe Moyez
A Life Less Ordinary (1997) .... Jackson
Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) .... Det. Roland Castlebeck

As far as Fishburne...How can you hate on Cowboy Curtis?

I don't dislike him...I'm indifferent towards him I guess. I agree he's a good actor, he just doesn't jump out at me...

Stephen Root rocked in Newsradio.
I gotta agree with Turturro and Buscemi, which were said earlier. Bonus points for movies they were both in together :)
