    Carl Landry Shot!

    Sorry, no link.

Heard is on the local radio... :(

Apparently, he'll be fine. He got shot in the leg, just flesh wound.

Edit: Apparently, as soon as the team came to Houston (From New Orleans), Carl went to get some food near his home. That's where he got shot, and apparently it is gang related.

Geez, that's awful. National news outlets don't seem to be carrying this story yet, so it must have been within the last couple of hours. Hope he recovers fine..

I would have to guess that a good percentage of NBA basketball players are just that. "Gangbangers." Most of them got a scholarship to play basketball in college, but if it wasnt for the chance to play basketball...they would be doing just that.

One of the biggest "street thugs" there is is Paul Pierce. If it wasnt for the fact that he is ultra talented, and can play ball...he would probably be dead or in jail right now.

Carl Landry doesn't seem like a "gangbanger."

From fellow Houstonians, Carl lives in a gated community. And this incident happened outside of his place.

And, where'd you get that Pierce is a street thug? Just because he was stabbed 9 times in the back?

Glad he is alright. Just a flesh wound. Landry will miss 1-2 weeks.

Well, of course not. But if he wasnt in the NBA, where would he be?

Pierce came from Inglewood, CA. One of the biggest gang infested areas in the country. His recruitment was highly scrutinized by alot of teams, questioning Kansas,in how they could recruit a kid like that. But his is a story of success. It got him out, and he is in a better place.

I know for a fact he's not. I'm from Milwaukee, as is Landry. He was born and raised here, went to high school here. The kid has his head on straight along with the rest of the Landry family (brother playing at Wisconsin and sister playing high school ball in Milwaukee). And he doesn't come from a broken family like a lot of NBA players unfortunately do (he has both of his birth parents who still support him and the rest of his siblings)
