I don't have a problem with it. It's more of an observance of a host country's tradition more than showing weakness. Overall I think the idea of Royalty is quite outdated and a little silly.

Why should we ask a country why their terrorist citizens attacked us? They had as much control over them as the US had over Charles Manson.

Untrue. The Saudi Government, i.e. the king, directly finances schools that support Wahhabi Islam - a very extremist wing. In many ways the Saudi government did have control over the attack as they are the ones that provided the environment for anti-Western sentiment to grow in their country in the first place.

    THIS IS MY OPINION

It doesn't really bother me I think he was just trying to be polite and respectful to him and I think it's getting a little out of hand. Now I can see why people might be bothered by this but I think Obama was just trying to make a polite gesture. Nothing more. Other people might think this was more than a simple polite gesture, and they have the right to think that way, I'm just explaining that I think it was nothing more than a simple sign of respect for the man.

    That's just IMO.

I just don't get why there should be such reverence for someone because they were simply born.

Did I say there should be reverence?

we already look weak to them

15 of their citizens (allegedly) attacked us on 9.11....and instead of asking them what's up with that, we go to war with afghanistan and censor anything to do with saudi arabia from the 9.11 report

the bow by obama is weak, i agree...but he's just doing what he's been told

Well who telling Obama to do anything. I thought he was the President the man in charge not the man taking orders from flunkies.

Exactly why we should be building refineries and exploiting our oil reserves so we don't have to bow down in any way to one of the most corrupt anti American countries that exists.

And btw the President should NEVER bow to anybody !!!!!

Some people have suggested that it's the same as the Asian custom of bowing but they are WRONG ! In that scenario BOTH people bow as a show of respect. If only one person bows it's a sign of subservience.

So Obama shouldn't bow to the king of Saudi Arabia because he funded "the attack" which I assume is 9/11. Aye...

I am all about America, but if the world is stupid enough to think that we're giving up some sort of power because our president respects his fellow leaders, then I couldn't care less. Bow to kings. Shake the hands of presidents. If we wanted someone to bow to us, we could have a monarchy. This is such a meaningless detail.
