I don't agree with the move but he got the exact response that he wanted out of Tim. As if Tim would have played it cool his team would have been in a 5 on 4 instead of a 4 of 4. So stupid or not it was calculated by Avery to get a response just like Bakeryracing said.
Not a fan of Sean Avery, but he has been effective in getting goalies off their game like Marty with the waving of the stick in their face. To me that was just pushing the rules and having a new one put into play because of his actions. That smart not stupid.
p.s. He is a turtle and does nothing to dismiss that notion. Good or bad he is in the league and we have to deal with him until the NHL suspends him again.

I think ANY goaltender would have reacted the same way Thomas did... ESPECIALLY after seeing it was Avery would smacked him with the stick.

I was a little like W.T.F. Avery but what are you gonna do, its not the end of the world it was done to get him off his game. What the league needs to look at was Thomas blocker punch to the face of Sojstrom that was a nasty play.

avery is classless, plain and simple. the guy won't stand up for him self, no matter how much crap he starts.
i can't stand steve ott, but i respect him as a player, simply for the fact, he will stand up for himself or his teammates. steve ott does his job well. gets under a teams skin by playing hard and tough, avery, ya not a snowball's chance. he runs like a wimp almost every time to ref after trying to start a fight and finds a willing partner. also if the entire media spotlight is not on him, he simply isn't happy. he thinks the name on back is more important then the name on front.
bakeryracing, would you still defend him if that was mason?
where's bertuzzi when you need him? and it will happen to avery sooner or later. he will go after the wrong player, or their goalie and they will take a cheap shot at him. not saying its right, but its building up to it. heck, wouldn't surprise me if its one of his team mates.

He is good at what he does but I highly doubt even a small percentage of his teammates even like the guy. He is an embarrassment to the league and it would be better served with him out of it.

Well I better get ready for this

I like it, loved Avery's antics on Brodeur. I just love the fact that he has a personality. I am also a Claude Lemieux fan cause he was money in the playoffs. Little Theo Fleury was hated here in Edmonton but if you asked an Oiler fan if they would have Theo on the team the honest answer was Yes.
I also really enjoy watching Ovechkin cause he has a personality as well. He is not going to give you a usual hockey interview.

Reacting like that is cool but when he did he played in Avery hands as that what he wanted. If you want to make Avery look stupid then don't react. Otherwise, he is getting you to do exactly what he wanted. That means the puppet master (Avery) is pulling your strings. Just like Thomas and Marty they both let him get the better of him.
p.s. Your teammates and the coach would be ****** if you let a 5 on 4 happen for taking a dumb penalty. If NY would have tied it up that only allows him to justify his actions (right or wrong). As Thomas got a 2 minute penalty which was what Avery planned for a 4 on 4.

If Avery was best suited out of the NHL, he would not be playing right now...the NHL basically had their chance to rid of him after his comment about Sloppy Seconds (which was a stupid reason to suspend someone considering there are players intentionally hurting players who get punished for less)....and he is back, so thats that
He will get treated by refs in the same way as before and he will not get away with anything..I remember seeing a highlight where someone was punching him and he didnt want to fight - just stood there yet he got a penalty....Itsthe way it will be and thats that
As for Thomas, He isnt any better by punching with his pads...Cheap....he didnt even hit Avery in the face but another Ranger.....and I would feel the same about any goalie....if your gonna fight, fight like a man and with bare hands....

Ok as a goalie and i know some of you are out there, you know how hard it is to remove the new style blockers with the strap. I'm not defending what he did. Just stating its hard to remove. its not like a hockey glove its straped on your wrist.
Now me in that situation. I would have done the same thing with the blocker on. >:)

I am so sick of this guy and his complete disrespect for the game and the guys who play it. He is a joke who gets a free pass in New York because for some reason this sort of behavior is acceptable in New York. It's ridiculous hearing the extent to which his fans go to convince themselves he is doing his job. I've heard "He got them a 4 on 4 which is an advantage for the Rangers and then because of the 4-4 they got a powerplay that became a 4-3" and stuff like that which is baffling because no 4 players the Rangers had where even close to Boston's 4 best, and giving him credit for Savard cross checking Gomez is retarded. It was a classless move, during a TV timeout.
The team is basically a .500 team since this "difference maker" started playing again which is essentially what they where without him. And thats assuming he, and not Antropov, Tortarella or Morris have any effect on the team. I've never heard of a more overrated 15 goal a year player.
I could go to the local country club and curse people out and spit in their faces and chances are I would get punched in the face and those people would be disqualified. Does this mean I am a good golfer? Obviously not. So then why does this make Sean Avery a good hockey player? I can't help but laugh at the people who condone this sort of crap, maybe they should watch wrestling or something if these sort of antics suit them.
