Well... I think a good way to solve this is by getting our allies around and not paying... These Merchant Marine Organizers have been [aid for so long they are living in multi million dollar houses on the coasts and running part of the local governments... Stop paying and I really dont think the fad would continue

I would be afraid to go on a sailing trip if I knew Pirates were roaming along waiting to kidnap you and get 2 million dollars out of me.....it would be pretty cool to have the US Navy snipers sniping Pirates though while I watch it all............

Weapons are hard to take into ports that arent US... usually they will check them out and can delay a trip for days

They were in an enclosed boat and could not get a shot on all the pirates at once

And they didn't want to have to shoot them, they were hoping for a peaceful resolution. The shots were taken because at one point one of the pirates put and AK-47 to the captain's back or head and the SEALs felt his life was in danger, so they took them out.

I used to have one of those when I was a kid. In 7th grade, my school's mascot was the pirates, so I brought it in with me to be displayed in my homeroom. Then somebody stole a bunch of pieces from it. That sucked.

Very True... but they probably would not have put snipers on the back deck unless they felt it would probably end in a shoot out. And i would have to imagine that AK-47 was in the captains back most of the time after he tried to escape.
