Americans are proud patriotic people. They like chanting USA!USA! and I don't blame them (although it seems wierd sometimes when they have more Canadians on the team than we do..see Calgary vs Tampa playoff lol ) Maybe instead of asking them not to wear their patriotism on their sleeves so much we should stand up and not be afraid to do it ourselves :) Its not meant to be offensive to anyone it's rooting for the hometeam! The Bruins and Habs showdown is epic hockey with deep roots.
P.S. GO DETROIT!Last edited by cprince80; 04-17-2009 at 11:13 PM.

Bruins fans actually chant USA at games? That is really odd. I'm proud citizen of the U.S. but I don't think I would join in that chant during a NHL game. It doesn't seem to make much sense.

1) Last year, there was a lot of booing during the Star-Spangled Banner in Montreal for Games 1 & 2...I watched all the games in the series and could hear it on TV. The Boston "USA USA" could be a continued response to that, they did it last year when the series shifted back to Boston
2) It could also be a response to the incessant "OLE OLE OLE"

That whole incident was so overblown, the media made it into something that it wasn't. The first time the crowd booed was not in response to the anthem, but the fact that Chara was being shown on the jumbotron.

I remember a few years ago when the Leafs played the Islanders in the playoffs, some of the NY fans were booing Oh Canada when the games were on Long Island. Thank-fully Leaf Fans responded by cheering the US anthem. I think its all in good fun because there is always gonna be that USA vs Canada mentality.
