Looks like any picks for the Kings will never help. How long as it been since they've made the playoffs? Have the draft picks helped them get any closer? No.

you obviously don't watch the kings or anything besides the casucks. the kings were in contention for a while before they fell out. the crap start that is mostly attributed to lacrapera (who is now YOUR problem) caused us to fumble. Doughty was absolutely amazing with his hockey sense.
just look at this
at 1:56 he makes just an amazing play. he went down to block a shot and getzlaf dekes around him. he has the presence of mind to swipe his stick and knock the puck away from getz.
overall the season for the kings was a failure. they are still young. their main concern has been goaltending and they really found a guy to make the timely big saves in jonny quick. Their defense was absolutely great this year allowing one of the lowest amounts of shots per game. their BIG weakness now is scoring. they don't have that guy to put up 30-40-50 goals a season and it is expected to be addressed this offseason. the kings have been widely linked to gaborik and kovalchuk and this years draft is mostly an offensive one as to last year where most of the top picks were d men. with guys like teubert, hickey, voynov, and martinez their d will be in shape for a while. i'm really not worried.
and again i'd rather take a number 5 pick than a 2nd round knockout any day

Yea but making the playoffs to start is better. I bet when the 16 teams made it, I would be overpowering right now. Its all good until the team is out. So overall this season was better for the Canucks.

Alot of the time I agree with you but I definitely cannot agree with this sentiment lol....
The goal is to win, and go as far into the playoffs as possible...each and every season...Losing on a yearly basis to get a good draft pick seems like the exact opposite of what Id like to see from any team I like...
I would rather see the Sabres get knocked out in the first round every year, than see them finish in 9th in the east every year. At least Id get to see some playoff hockey lol...Only exception I can think of is possibly a 1st round sweep...that may be the only situaiton I would hate more than missing the playoffs completely lol

yep. i HATED deano...its really starting to go away since he got rid of crawford, cloutz, and lacrapface. I think the one thing wrong with him is he can't get a coach that will win a championship. Sure in SJ he got wilson. what did he do? do well in reg season and then lose in the playoffs. i hope murray isnt like that

i know the goal is to win but if you aren't going to win it all, i'd rather have the good pick. and yeah i'd HATE getting 9th cause that means not a great pick but not in the playoffs.
