the penalty called was interference because he didn't have possession of the puck since it took a wierd hop off the wall. The 5 mins is automatic when the penalty leads to an injury. has nothing to do with whether the hit was clean or not, refs decided he didn't have the puck and wasn't a legal target of the hit.

Which the announcers talk about. Puck being between his legs etc. Good point to bring up.

Congratulations officials, you're officially turning hockey into a non-contact, pansy sport (although that is what Gary would like). Interference when Havlat is playing the puck in his feet? I don't think, so but nice imaginary call.
No elbow, no leaving his feet - just a poor sucker with his head down that got caught in the tracks. Pefectly clean hit, heck Scott Stevens is going to the HOF with a career full of hits more questionable than this.

There is no chance this will even be considered for a suspension.

Believe it was a linesman that called it as the announcers were saying that no arms went up. The ref I could see didn't have his arm up

Not going to get into if it was a clean hit or not, just hope he is OK and not hurt. Too many good players have had their career cut short due to hits like that.

I do have a question for you Red Wings fans. If that was Datsyuk or Zetterberg or anybody on the Wings, would you still be saying that was a clean hit? Don't say that wouldn't happen to anybody on the Wings neither. It could happen to anybody at anytime. If I remember correctly Zetterberg got nailed once or twice last night.

This should make for an even more interesting game on Sunday.
