My opinion was the correct answer. So yes, it was needed.

Well let me throw this scenario at you. A call was made against Scott Walker correct. Did he not sucker punch Ward during the last 5 minutes. Not sure been a while but if that the case should he not have missed the following game instead of just giving a 2500 dollar fine?

Just asking as I know sometimes the NHL doesn't follow there own rules. If that the case how can you say it was the correct answer when the NHL really has no true answers.

According to the rules books as been mentioned the correct call was made. But alas does the NHL follow that 100 percent of the time. IF you say no then their is no Rulebook as it supposed to be followed all the time just not when convenient.

Don could you clear up your reply to me, what's the question?

You want to know what the call on Walker was, what was the call on Walker, or was it the correct call?

My point when I replied was to explain the call. The kids here were going on and on as to why. I explained why it was called.

no, you were wrong, and your opinion is not needed if you think the thread is not entertaining.

Without getting super involved in the heat of this conversation...I believe the NHL has mandated an automatic game misconduct for any player who hits another player and causes injury to them....FOR TWO REASONS...1) It gives the guys up in Toronto in the war room a chance to break it apart, replay it a zillion times over and determine whether or not the player in question should receive suspension or fines... 2) So the player who just laid out someone from the other team doesnt get himself killed every remaining shift in the game...Lets face it....You lay someone out you just put a giant bullseye on you the rest of the game...By giving that player a misconduct it allows the game to continue and while you may have a few guys dropping the gloves it actually ensures the game goes alittle smoother....
Either way right or wrong unless you want the NHL to turn into a bunch of ballerinas on skates, hitting is inevitable...What they need to do is better educate players at the beginning levels (college, juniors, minors) how important it is to skate with your head up....Know your surroundings especially in such a fast paced and hard hitting sport...It just might make the difference between a lengthy NHL Career or being Dubbed the next Eric "the vegetable" Lindros..
