Ok. Well here's this. And I'm sure a lot of you can relate, or even tell better stories than me......
....My high school had a very, very bad rivalry with another school. In the time that I was in hihg school, the rivalry had one ref fired and two altercations (one of which turned into a real fight to where not only the benches cleared but the entired stands). But everytime I played against that school, I shook their hands after the game. During the game I pulled a few "stunts", such as tugging on their shorts, poking them in the back and ribs, and such just to make them mad (never did I trip, hit, or take a cheap shot of ANY kind though, just little things to get on your nerves haha). But win or lose, in the rivalry or some other team, I always shook their hands. And I was 15-18 years old, not very mature at that time, but I still did it.

Exactly, no matter how much you hate the other team or if you've been rivals, you always shake hands to show your respect. Even boxing when someone beats you down they get up and shake hands, i don't know what Lebron meant when he says "When you get beat down you don't get up a shake their hands" because you do that only in sports. He wasn't playing a streetball game.
Dwight Howard was the Sunday conversation today on sportscenter and when Rachel Nichols asked him about Lebron not shaking hands, he was shocked and disappointed.

Lebron said afterwards that there really is no sense in shaking the winner's hands after a loss. It's because he is very competitive and it's tough for him to lost. Oh really?
What would Lebron feel if it was the other team who fail to recognize and acknowledge his win? It's just a pity excuse saying that there is no sense in shaking hands because he is just so competitive.
Such unsportsmanlike behavior. He is a basketball god. Is this what he wants to show to all the children who wants to emulate him?

i agree, he also says he wasnt being unsportsman like because he didnt shake hands, because he is a true compeitor and you don't do that when you compete, for him to be the posterchild of the NBA he is setting a terrible example for the kids, since they look up to him...
overall, he is just a big baby, he would be angry if the other teams didnt shake his hand..you may not be happy, but its out of respect to the other team to shake there handsHidden Content

a true competitor would walk over and shake the hand of the opponent acknowledging that he had been bested

Shoot, as much as the refs in this series have been on LeBrons side, I would have taken that shot on my homecourt to rub it in as well. LeBron got every call his way this series. Especially, at the end of game 4 I believe it was, when LeBron jacked up a three and Howard came behind and got all ball on the blocked shot and the refs called a foul. Im glad to see him lose, because after seeing his interview with reporters this morning, he deserves it.

You know, up until that moment I was pulling for LeBron, but now, I hope he learns sportsmanship before he wins a league title. That was classless from the league's MVP. I don't care what he says about being a competitor and you don't shake someone's hand who just beat you. Arrogant much LeBron? Everyone else shook your hand after the first two rounds and you can't do it when YOU lose? Grow up, kid.

Yea and the next day during an interview he says he doesnt even regret not shaking hands with the Magic team. Jim Rome was frying LeBron too saying if he wants to be seen as a global icon he needs to learn something even bench players know how to do, have sportsmanship. thanx
