Don't sweat it as they are a good team year in year out. They are the leaders in penalty minutes as a club as a whole so the whole team gets labeled as dirty. I believe when they won the CUP they were the first Cup Winner to ever lead the league in penalty minutes. As in theory a team that is penalized so much should be at a disadvnatage as they are short handed. Of course they proved that myth wrong that year.
As you say Ryan, Perry, Getzlaf, and possibly HIller give them a nice core of players. It not all Pronger fault as some of the other guys play hard hitting hockey. Personally, I love it but hey if you win can you argue with the results. They won before playing that style so if they can keep winning why change.
Pronger has had a lot of suspensions for hit that goes above and beyond. We all talk about keeping the players safe yet his history of hitting and being reckless sometimes is not dealt with by the NHL in my opinion. Which is one reason why I get upset with the whole NHL discipline committee as they talk a good game but don't walk the walk. I like to put Bettman and Campbell ou there and let them get hit a few times. I bet their whole ruling on the punishment for certain hits would change big time. But that just my opinion.

I always root for the Ducks when the Sabres arent in the playoffs TBH, when it was Karyia and Selanne it was so fun to watch them play, and I like Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf alot too , and Giguere is my boy, Hiller is the new guy but still I love Giggy. They get alot of heat for playing dirty but whatever, I dont see the Wings complain

give me a break. Hiller and Jiggy by far have the biggest pads (leg and shoulders) in the league. They go waaaay above the knee and hang off so they block the entire 5-hole opening. The shoulder pads stick way off their stomach and are extremely wide to take up a ton of space. In point...they just take up a ton of space with their giant equipment.

As long as they are within the rules of pad sizes and so on, they are not cheating or have no advantage since everyone else can do the same if they chose to. And the point is to stop the pucks so why not take every advantage you can within the rules?

I know he's gone now...but I think a lot of disrespect for the Ducks comes from Brian Burke. Of course, I use to love Burkie when he was GM of the Nucks, but I really couldn't stand his mouth. IDK what happened but once he won his Cup, the mouth got even bigger. I am also an Oiler's fan, so the whole mess between him and Lowe really left a bad taste in my mouth. Burke just kept running his mouth over and over, to me he actually sounded like he was crying through the media...."Why would you steal Penner"...lol...Not that it turned out well for the Oilers...lol. I actually used to respect the Ducks till the whole Oilers / Ducks mess that really began with the Pronger trade. So I know its not fair to base an opinion of a team on the words of an EX executive, but hey us Humans are fickle creatures. Just my opinion.

First off I'm not a Ducks fan, never have been. Never been a Pronger fan neither. I think he is way overrated, but that is another thread.
The Ducks play a game that the NHL (BETTMAN) has been trying for years to get rid of. I kind of like that 'old school' way of playing. Remember guys and gals if this team played in the '80s or '90s they would be playing the same game that just about every team played back then. The only difference is they have players that are physical, can fight and know how to score.

Are all goalies pads measured when they start using them? Are pad measurements mandatory, or do they only get measured if an opposing team requests?

Don't worry about the hate-on for the Ducks. A lot of it stems from the same reasoning that people don't like Montreal: they're a winner. In the long run would you rather be popular or successful? Why do you think a guy like Patrick Roy can so easily blow off someone like Jeremy Roenick? It doesn't matter whose side people take in a little feud like that because Patrick was simply right.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Definitely a West coast hatred. You hardly ever hear about the Ducks on our side of the World.
I know one thing, I'd take Getzlaf in a heartbeat. Perry is not my kind of player, but I would take Pronger! Does that make any sense?
I want my defensemen to be offensive yet at the same time I want the other team's players scared to death to go up against them.
But at the same time, I want a hard digging forward who wins battles, but safe to play against. Perry is a dangerous player and from the few game I watch of Anaheim he's going to really hurt someone someday.

Hiller has some wicked talent. The fact that he helped take the Wings to seven games has turned a lot of heads. Should be an interesting summer for Anaheim.
