when has Bosh proven he's among the elite? He's a good player, but how far has he lead Toronto in his six seasons?

i agree completely, but all thats been said is how great Bosh is (media says this) theres been rumors he'll go to Detroit, i really hope he doesnt though!

    completely different..lol

Bosh is good, not worth a max contract, and we dont need another Rasheed Wallace, a big guy who shoots jump shots only, and not well enough to do so..

Max contracts are a joke. Here are the guys who are making "Max Contracts", according the NBA GM:

    Maximum Contract Players
    Team Player Type
    Atlanta Joe Johnson Maximum
    Boston Kevin Garnett Maximum
    Boston Paul Pierce Maximum
    Cleveland LeBron James Maximum
    Dallas Jason Kidd Maximum
    Dallas Dirk Nowitzki Maximum
    Denver Carmelo Anthony Maximum
    Detroit Allen Iverson Maximum
    Houston Tracy McGrady Maximum
    L.A. Lakers Kobe Bryant Maximum
    Miami Jermaine O'Neal Maximum
    Miami Dwyane Wade Maximum
    Milwaukee Michael Redd Maximum
    Phoenix Shaquille O'Neal Maximum
    San Antonio Tim Duncan Maximum
    Toronto Chris Bosh Maximum
    Toronto Shawn Marion Maximum

Is Joe Johnson a "Max" guy? Michael Redd? Jermaine O'Neal? Shawn Marion? Granted, they are very good players, but outside of about 10 names in the NBA, no one should be getting maxed. Max guys are guys who win you titles....

    My Maximum Contract Players:

    Boston Kevin Garnett Maximum
    Cleveland LeBron James Maximum
Denver Carmelo Anthony Maximum (won't argue with him, but he's the last of the list)
    L.A. Lakers Kobe Bryant Maximum
    Miami Dwyane Wade Maximum
Phoenix Shaquille O'Neal Maximum (only for previous service)
    San Antonio Tim Duncan Maximum

Please note that Chris Paul will soon be on this list when his new contract is on the table, and Dwight Howard is another guy capable of making this much. Durant and Derrick Rose have some time to put in but are possibly there one day. And yes, I did this off the top of my head, so I may have forgotten someone.

That's it folks, you hand out max contracts to anyone else you are setting back your franchise.

LOL- you know I have love for Joe, I am a Suns fan, and I loved him here and thought they should have done everything to keep him.... but not as a Max guy. Hey, I didn't even list Steve Nash as a Max guy, and he's got a pair of MVP's and is my hometown hero :-)

I see Bosh as this decade's Juwan Howard. Overpaid, semi-star player - solid big man, but NOT worth the max. Granted, he's a bit better than Juwan, but still..maxes should be kept for true superstars.

lol this thread gave me a few good laughs. Come on guys (and girls)...I'm not gonna say whether Bosh deserves the max contract or not (that's debatable), but semi-star? He's been averaging 22-23ppg/9-10 rpg for 4 years in a row, was an all-star all four years, was named to the all-nba second team in 06/07. Last season he was ranked 9th in the league in ppg, 6th in rpg, 4th in free throws attempts. You can question his leadership, and 'how far has he lead Toronto'..but let's compare. Kobe has Gasol/Odom/Bynum/Support Cast, KG has Pierce/Allen/Supporting Cast, Duncan has Parker/Manu/Supporting Cast, Dwight has Shard/Turkoglu/Nelson/Supporting Cast..what does Bosh has? Bargnani? What can Kobe or KG or Wade do on a team where the second best player is Andrea Bargnani? What can they do when the bench consists of Roko Ukic, Jason Kapono, Quincy Douby, Joey Graham, Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Patrick O'Bryant?

As for Bosh doing nothing but shooting jump shots..why is he one of the best in the league at getting to the foul line? I can tell you he isn't getting his free throws by shooting jump shots. Chris Bosh can drive to the basket when he wants to. He just has been doing it less later into the season because of ankle problems (which caused him to miss games). The bottom line is, Chris Bosh is a top 5 PF in the league, one of the best young players, and borderline franchise player. And remember, Chris was the main big man on USA's gold winning olympic team..not Dwight, not Amare. I just think that since the Raptors are a Canadian team, and we get very little publicity in the States, most of you don't watch much Raptors basketball to know a whole lot about the team. I watched all the games and I've been watching Bosh's progress, and I can tell you that if Bosh actually had any support on his team, the team can easily be one of the best in the east (heck, Bosh brought the Raptors the division title without support..imagine if he gets some).

I have League Pass and watch every team regularly. Please don't accuse me of anti-Canadian bias; my Russian ancestors came through Canada to get to the U.S. to escape pogrom persecution, so that has nothing to do with it.

Yes, Bosh has little supporting cast, but so did KG for many years on the T-Wolves, and he shouldn't have gotten max either - taking a max contract does not allow your team to build around you, so if a person is going to complain about not having a supporting cast, they shouldn't ask for the max.

Moreover, my comparison to Juwan Howard is legitimate. When Howard got the max, these were his 95-96 stats:

    Juwan Howard 95-96 48.9 FG%, 8.1 RPG, 4.4 APG, 22.1 PPG

Bosh's 08-09 stats on a similarly mediocre team:

    Chris Bosh 08-09 48.7 FG%, 10 RPG, 2.5 APG, 22.7 PPG

Howard got a huge contract, and the Wiz never advanced that far in the playoffs. Do you seriously want Bosh to also get a max and not allow the Raptors much of a chance to advance in the playoffs? Did you consider Juwan Howard a superstar back in the day?
