Booooooooo!! From the short details posted at tsn.ca it sounded as though there were just too many issues to have resolved before Balsillie's deadline. That's 0-for-3 for Jimmy now.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I'm thinking he still bids at the bankruptcy proceedings. If he shuts his yap, loses a few mil in Phoenix for 3 or 4 seasons, then maybe they'll let him move the team....to Winnipeg.
Seriously, unless Balsillie offers $1billion for the Leafs, he won't be getting a team anywhere near the GTA for a while.

Personally, I have a mixed opinion because I would love another team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), but at the same time, really believed that a team in Hamilton would ruin the Sabres which ultimately isn't fair to Buffalo. If anything, I think they should look more towards Vaughn.
On another note: With the Coyotes not moving to Hamilton, that means Gretzky will lose investments of approximately $9million or so (I could be way off) as there was an article a few weeks stating that he would also be banking on the team moving to Hamilton keep his investments (not 100% familiar with that situation).

Apparently it's still not over... I got this email past 10:30:
Jim Balsillie's bid to bring a seventh NHL team to Canada continues. We're still here. The Phoenix court confirmed Mr. Balsillie was approved as an NHL owner in 2006 and remains so. We believe he has made the best offer and Hamilton remains the best location for this team.
The court did not approve either our approach or the NHL's. Judge Baum did state he does not have time to decide all the relocation issues. But the court still controls the sale process. As a result, we look forward to hearing from the NHL soon on its view of our relocation application and an appropriate relocation fee, so as to allow the court to determine if that fee is reasonable. We still think there is enough time for the NHL to approve Mr. Balsillie's application and move the team to Hamilton by September.

Fine. Let the NHL and the BOG run the team and pay off the Yotes det.
How can this be good for the NHL?
How can Owners who make money think giving this team money year after year is a good thing?

NHL teams going from Canada to the US is the equivalent of a roach motel.
Once they check in, they don't check out.

I just hope that when the data's analyzed a weakness can be found, it's not over yet!
