Cut Auto #3/5 turns to WHAT?? WHY???
I have been working on a case of 2009 SP Legendary Cuts and last week I was lucky and pulled the Mystery Cut auto and a cut of Gene Woodling.
I have Woodling autos from when he was alive, so pulling a cut auto of player where I got a "live" auto from was not a thrill.
Today I am back busting and I am thinking today is my day. I just know it is my day to finally make my Ultimate pull from Upper Deck.
I start my break pull a couple of nice jersey cards in a few packs and then bingo I hit the pack with the second cut in the case. I know today is my DAY!!!!
I slowly push the cards back to reveal the number:::::::
YES!!! a short print # 3/5
I have been watching the board breaks and ebay and know that Ruth, Gehrig, Walter Johnson, Lajoie are numbered to five~!!!!!!!
My heart was pumping so fast, today is my day, Finally the Ultimate pull.
I slowly, oh so slowly push back the top card to reveal my super short printed cut auto and it is??????????????

Who????

Gene Baker
You have to be kidding me! Talk about the wind being taken out of your sails.
Played eight seasons, life time BA .265
What a let down. Win some and lose some with your break.
At least it was a cut that certainly will be remembered. Only as a what if.
Good luck with your breaks.

That sucks. Atleast you got a cut though and it is very rare. Try selling it on ebay

Haha...I can't really say sorry...you still got a 3/5 card! But I can understand the disappointment. I'm sure you'll be able to get some decent money out of it if you throw it on ebay. Good luck.

Dang, I was hoping it was a Mark Belanger. Well, for your sake I was hoping it was Ruth, Gehrig, Walter Johnson, Lajoie, but for my sake I was hoping for a Belanger.

wow, people keep saying sorry that's what you pulled. "What a letdown" "That sucks" I don't think people really don't know too much about Gene Baker. He was a member of the Navy during World War II, he played for the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues before coming to major league baseball, he was the first African-American to be the manager for a minor league team, then became the Pirates top scout for 23 years after that. All-star in 1955, part of the winning World Series team in 1960.
May not have been a high profile name, but sure was an interesting person

Your right I didn't know that
That's actually a good pull
Sounds like he was good as a manager and a scout just not a player
Not as bad as previously thought
