As much as I hate the Celtics, Rondo is one of the better young all-around PGs in the game. He's not close to CP right now, but he's getting up there.

A big difference is CP has the ability to "make" guys better (e.g. Chandler). Same with Parker and DWill. Rondo hasn't had to "make" anyone because they were already capable on their own.

Stuckey is no scrub though. Maybe something like a more explosive Andre Miller down the road. I would have turned down the trade as well. What Rip and Tayshaun give you collectively on both sides of the ball is much better than what Allen gives.

What is with all of this talk of Rondo being half a step behind Chris Paul? Rondo can't even hold Chris Pauls jock, let alone be half a step behind him.

I didn't say he was right now, but he does have the potential to be that good.

Yeah...and Daniel Gibson has the potential to be as good as Kobe one day right?

Heard about this on ESPN this morning - quite interesting, really...Jeremy, you said that they are looking to rebuild? I don't see it as that, as rebuilding is trading away your top player(s) - these are top players 3 and 4, as Pierce and KG are both better than either Ray or Rondo...but, what doesn't make sense to me is trading away Rondo - I understand he has attitude issues, but why trade away such a great young talent, especially with KG, Pierce and Allen aging...but, Boston would get Stuckey and Prince in return, both of which are fairly young.

Another thing that is quite odd to me is that while Ainge is saying that they aren't trying to trade Rondo because of behavior issues, and that they are only looking to make the team better, yada yada yada, this is at least the 2nd trade proposal involving Rondo - the other one being Rondo to Sacramento for the 4th overall draft pick.

The draft is wayyyy to weak to consider rondo for the 4th pick, Rondo's just now begining to hit his prime..and this whole bad attitude thing is over blown.

On my opinion I think it would have been a good deal for the Pistons. If they decided on the trade they could be major players in the 2010 summer of great free agents with the money they have. They could have picked up Ray Allens expiring contract and sign Rondo maybe to an extension. They would have gotten rid of Hamilton and Prince contract which I think is 2 more years. As for the Celtics it would have been a great trade for them. They get Prince who can spell either Garnett or Pierce. Stuckey and Hamilton would definitely start for the C's. Anyway trade didn't work out. I'm interested to see what Ainge would do this coming 2 days. We shall see....

Pistons already have cap space for 2 max contracts, you dont want to go into a huge free agency with no one left to start besides one guy because if you cant sign any of the big guys your stuck with the leftovers

Sure, in fantasy land...lol...no, he doesn't, but Rondo does have the potential to be a great player.

That was in college, and was quickly proven to be unture - Rondo didn't have high expectations, and he has slowly come into his own, and keeps playing better...two very different situations.

Couldn't agree more...except that I don't think we are seeing Rondo's prime yet.
