If I break even, I consider it a great break. I have had boxes where I paid $150 for and literally got $30 of stuff. With all the funny wording, I make sure it meets that criteria. 08/09 Trilogy sayd "3 autos per box" not on average. I got 2 on my last one and will be returning it. I'd expect one higher end pull for%40-50 of the box value. If I could get several medium cards tha make up the price, I'd be happy too as they would be easy to move. It seem slike UD is constantly finding ways of making their cost cheaper with stickers & photoshoot jerseys, but they pass none of that onto us. Price keps going up, they just pack more chaff. With all the 15 sets per year, there is alot more higher end stuff, lowering its value. a #/25 patch used to be high end. Now every set has several.

I agree with 30ranfordfan 100%. I consider it a decent to good break if my break meets all of the stated odds. I also consider it a decent to good break if quality control was involved with the boxes. If I pull just one good to great hit, I feel very lucky and do the happy dance.

I expect Crosby and Gretzky autos in every break and nothing less.

Should you do the happy dance for 1 good to great hit?
You just paid $200 or more?
I think Senrab has the right idea, we are the consumers with the money...demand more for it, never settle

I guess it depends on what you consider to be a "good to great hit".

I wouldn't consider anything to be a "good" (or better) hit unless was easily sellable for 50% (or more) of the cost of the box. I'd never expect more than one card like that from a box break (though, I'd be thrilled if that happened).

Very rarely will you break even on a box, and the majority of the time you'll lose out severely. People that argue this are irrational, naturally.

I appreciate the fact that so many people enjoy this activity however, as I can pick and choose whatever I want and get the pieces for significantly cheaper.

I expect value out of the box. Lets face it, everything in this hobby has a dollar sign attached to it. When I break a box, I want what I paid for it to be reflected in the cards I pulled. I don't want to spend $100 on a box, and pull $30 worth of cards. This is the main reason I don't break wax anymore. Even when I hit big, I still think about all of the bad breaks in the past.

I would say most of the time someone makes back at least 50% sales of the box.

Cases are the easiest bet, because you hit case hits. And breaking a product that just came out also will generate more money. I can almost bet if you got a case of Upper Deck Series 1 the day it came out, you would most likely break even.

I expect an auto per pack...out of BAP, lol.

No, I really just expect to meet the odds and get at least 1 nicer card.
