When minimum wage goes up, I just cut my employees' hours. Everything always balances out. :)
On a broader scale, "whoever" can raise the unemployment, but employers will just laugh and adjust accordingly.

That's exactly the point that most people seem to miss. Whether you think it fair or unfair, the people in power aren't going to willingly cut their profits...you cut into their profits, they find a way to get it back. Simple, basic economics and just one more issue proving the Obamastration knows very little about it...I really do get tired of saying that.

In all fairness, this stupidity spans back the past four or five administrations. All that matters is the public (save for the select thinkers) won't realize this. But you're absolutely right, it'll be a cold day before the government tries to affect my profit.

Sure...the minimum wage has been climbing ever since it's inception. And it's touted as a measure to help the poor, when it's actually working against them...and people eat it up and ask for more.

Very true. Sadly, it looks like it's here to stay, though.

Oh of course...it'll keep going up too. But there are many government policies on all levels that are supposed to help, but actually do more harm than good.

Nope: Federal Minimum Wage Increase for 2007, 2008, & 2009
States can set their own minimum wage if they want their minimum to be higher than the federal minimum, and some states have done that, but each state must meet the federal minimum. The increase going into effect right now (and once in 2007 and 2008 each as well) are federal increases.

Gotcha, so the state's hands are tied really. Stinks for Michigan especially when their economy has got to be one of the worst right now

This was part of a law and it is an automatic raise. I don't know for how long, but this is going to kepp going up until they check the law again.
