May I make a suggestion? I will listen to various artists according to whatever mood I am in so the types of music I listen to vary but here is some stuff you may like:
Usher- Love in this Club I & II, I don't know, Burn
T.I.- No matter what, Whatever you like, Live your life
Lil Wayne- 3 Peat, Got Money
Mark Morrison- Return of the Mack
Prince- Purple Rain
Guns N' Roses- Knockin' on Heavens Door
Phil Collins- In the air tonight, Take me home
I seem to listen to those songs the most. I realize there all not R&B or Hip-Hop but if you want some real R&B I suggest Usher for today's taste and Luther Vandross if you like old stuff. Hope I gave you some ideas.

the best rap music was made between 1993-1997
the best R&B music was made in the 70's
if you want any suggestions from those eras, just let me know....but otherwise, don't waste your time listening to today's soulless junk that gets pushed through by the 4 major record labels using payola and blackmail to get their junk played

I still listen to today's music, but agree that it just doesn't have the true feel that most of the golden age music did.

yeah...for sure
don't get me wrong...every once in a while a really good song is released, but they are so far and few between, that taken as a whole, the current grade of both genres gets a D- at best
most of the stuff that gets passed off as rap music today makes me cringe...i'm 27 and i grew up on rap music, i used to DJ rap music, and I have produced rap music...i used to get excited when new albums would come out...now I would gladly help Rev. Calvin Butts steamroll this crap like he did 15 years ago
99% of the artists today are immitators immitating other immitators...there is no grimy rough sounding rap anymore...everything has to be perfectly EQ'd, crisp, clean and aesthetically boring to make it in today's market...while lyrics today sound like Dr. Seuss ghost wrote the rhymes
