There weren't many ifs to that statement, just basick analysis. As for the Packers, they told Favre not to come back and that they were sticking with Rodgers. Sure this saga has gone on a looooong time, but if he feels he can play, who is to say he can't? As I said, he played solid last season until he hurt his elbow

But the reason the Packers had to stick with Rodgers in the first place was because Favre was teetering on whether or not to retire for months, and Green Bay had to make the first move. What does he have left to accomplish? He has a SB ring, MVPs and all the major passing records. It seems like most of the great ones know when it's time to call it quits (ex. Marino, who still actually did have unfinished business in the game). I just don't think it's fair to Packers' and Vikings' fans, nor to the Vikings players, who will have this story to contend with all year. As if winning a championship isn't hard enough. It seems to me like Favre is truly ignorant to how his decisions affect others, and the damage he's doing to his rep.

I want him to sign the friggin contract and be done with it. As a favre collector and long time supporter I'm souring on his should I/should I not BS. if you want to play just play. Now reports are coming out that he said no the first time because he would have been expected to report to camp which he didn't want to do. That's the mark of a premadonna right there.

Welcome to reality. Those of us now enamored of Favre have known for a long time that he was a prima donna.

Both Favre and Vikings management are perfectly within their rights to do whatever they want to do. And if things work out and the Vikes win the SB (and at this point, anything less will be seen as a failure), then people will forgive. However, if the Vikes don't win the title, then they've effectively ruined team discipline and stunted the development of their young QBs for nothing.

I think it is, if anything it will be a huge boost to AP. He won't see 8 man boxes. And it will make the secondary think twice about sneaking up. A lot of people give Favre cr*p for how he played last year, but he was having a great season until his elbow injury.

    I 100% agree w/ you.

Favre knows he has nothing to play for, but he just loves to play on Sundays. As for the fans, I think Viking fans are thrilled to have Favre on their team.

I agree with almost everything you said, but I don't think Favre's sin is not knowing when to quit. I dislike his actions because they're so selfish. Of course he should be able to decide if he wants to play, but stringing out the decision puts an enormous burden on his team. It's clear that for all the acting and posturing, he's not just some average joe who wants to play football. He's a prima donna who craves the spotlight and only wants to play in a perfect situation on his own terms. Basically, Mariah Carey in cleats.

BS. He's playing for Favre. He's addicted to the adulation and the spotlight. This 'Favre as average joe' is completely contrived.

I agree. As a Favre fan for so long, it pains me to say that. But I just don't know what else to think anymore. It's a tough situation for AP and the Vikes. I'm really curious to know how the players feel about all of this.

Farve signing with Minnesota, is almost a good cause for a new Civil war between 2 states.
He has been treated almost God like in Wisconsin & parts of Minnesota. I'd say that almost half of Wisconsin owns a Favre jersey, and at least every kid there has at least 2 of them.
The rivalry between the Viking & Packers has been around for quite some time, and Farve coming to MN to play for the Vikings is almost a slap in the face of Wisconsin.
I just dont see how the die hard fans are going to accept this!

Will they stop selling cheese to us Minnesotan's?
Will they not sell us beer on Sunday's?
Will those fans that painted they're homes/cars/faces Packer Green/Yellow
    now change to Purple/Yellow?
(What is the color that turns Green too Purple? Red maybe?)

I just want to offer my condolences to all of the older Packer fans, that will be sitting in the easy-chairs, watching the Packers play the Vikings in October in MINNESOTA, and having to watch Favre, the former Wisconsin Golden Boy throw touchdowns against the Packers, not only then & there but once again in Lambo field come November!

It's not going to be easy for them,

Ladies, take note, this is the season to up the life insurance policies!

    Goooo, QUEENIES!!
Who needs Moss, when you can rely on a retired QB to win a Superbowl!

    embarrasing...on several levels.

It says Favre feels he is above the team. He could have signed before and done training camp, but he wanted nothing of camp, something every NFL player dislikes but is obligated to attend. So he says he isnt ready to come back.

It says the Vikings feel every player on the team is below Brett. If I am a player on that team I am not too happy right now. What other things will he be let out of that they are forced to do. Sounds like Roger Clemens when he only wanted to pitch in home games.

Ridiculous..another classic Brett Favre all about him, noone else matters moment. He is worse then TO, as I have said before.
