thank goodness, the only reason the guy was still coaching past his first season was his namesake. Anyone not named Gretzky would have been thrown out of town for a better coach

Bettmans high level expectation failed with his "gretzky" in phoenix experiment which was supposed to bring the fans, now watch phoenix fall into the tank even further,LOL@ BETTTMAN.

Part of the reason Wayne was the highest paid coach was because the organization owed him money. Wonder how they will pay him now!!

Sad to see him go, and I wonder if he'll work a bit behind the scenes? I sure hope he gets a haircut though!!!!!!!

I think some people might have seen this coming. He is already in a position to lose about $9million or so (I could be off by a few million) because of his ownership in the Coyotes. He also hasn't been around the Coyotes team throughout training camp.

I couldn't blame Gretzly. It's probably the best move for him right now.

Good for him. Just players have have great skills, but just not meant to coach. Nobody will remember him even coaching the Coyotes.

Let's not forget Gretzky had a bad team on the ice while he coached them. They now have some good young prospects ( Mueller mostly ) but the fact is their team wasn't good enough to make the playoffs.

I do not think he made a bad job at all with what he had.
