First, I said nothing of the economic system...capitalism is the only fair and successful way to go.

If everyone paid as much attention and were as knowledgable about the issues as you and I, I would 110% agree...or even half were. But the majority of America is dumb, ignorant...and their vote counts just as much as yours or mine and there are many, many more of them.

Don't get me wrong, Democracy is definitely the best option and I'm not spurning it by any means...but sometimes, when I see all the dummies, it makes me think it wouldn't be so bad if a small group of people who actually know something were in charge.

It's philosophical from that point.

If the majority of the American populous doesn't care about certain issues, who is to say that that should be made important, expensive, and hotly debated issues amongst only a few?

Well, America is the greatest country in the world...I'd say it's worked pretty well. We started as a third-world country and have made a faster and larger rise to greatness than any other country/empire in the history of the world...not sure what more you could ask for.

Fun-fact, I believe the term third-world country refers to communist nations if my memory serves. Not that it affects your point any since I'm pretty sure everyone knows what you meant

OK, never mind I was mistaken, that is second-world. Anyways to try to save face for butting in with my ignorance I will say that the term third world wasn't around until the cold war so at least I was kind of right with my almost completely irrelevant point

Yeah, I know we wouldn't have been called a third-world country back then, but applying today's standards to that time, that's basically what we were when compared to the other countries of the world.
