driving age is too low in my opinion. I don't think a 16 year old is mature enough to be driving a car.

That is just crazy that they don't have a driving test at all. I've never heard of that. I think most states (or at least most states around me (CT)) have a road test already

there are 2 tests in RI one written and one road test. although they dont seem to be working. in the past few years there have been at least 4 underage (16-17) drinking and driving accidents. where a minor has been killed in my town. i think they should make the driving age 18 that way you have your license to get to school or work on your own. 16 year old's don't need to drive in my opinion there's the school bus or public transportation. or walk. other than that most (not all) kids are out doing something stupid or causing trouble. i understand some 16 year olds are mature. but i dont think that 16 is old enough to be able to drive on your own.

I had a road test too, but it was ridiculously simple. Pull out of the parking lot, drive about a mile down a deserted back road, make a three point turn, come back...hardly anything that actually tells you how the person can drive.
I see your point, but I don't think a more comprehensive driving test would really help. Most people would still pass because they know it's a test, they're paying more attention, and trying harder. The main problem people have is not paying attention while driving...they're either day dreaming, talking on a cel phone, singing along to their music in another world, texting, reading a newspaper/book (yes, I've seen it), etc.
I think there should be a crack down on bad drivers...forget the people going 15 mph over, but not endangering anyone, go after the people going 10 under in the fast lane or talking on their cel phone or pulling out in front of people or running red lights, etc. Those things are far more likely to cause accidents than someone speeding.

The driving age in ND is only 14. I got my license when I was 14.

Well i actually did, just because I got my "hardship". But for the "normal" drivers at 16, they just get to drive after having their permit(driving with a parent for a year) and then they get their license automatically.
That's not the case in the "great state of Minnesota" (wow, I sound like a tourism agency...lol)...if you are under 18, it's 30 hours in the class room, the permit test, then the behind the wheel test after 6 months with the permit - over 18, and it's the permit test (no classroom required), and the BTW test after 3 months with the permit.

i think it should be 16 and a half. im still in high school and 90% of the wrecks are the 15, 16- early 17 year olds flying through the parking lot or whatever. there should defintely be a limit on age. no way i feel safe anywhere in the lot with sophmore and juniors driving around. not to mention alot of wrecks are from women that dont know what the hell there doing

In Indiana, you have to pass the written and then you take the driving part of the test. At least that's how it was when I got my license about 22 years ago.
