You think that's bad, you should've seen how much I spent on David Carr. Lol.

That's insane! The buyer better pray that he becomes the next Joe Montana or Johnny Unitas. However, if he becomes the next Ryan Leaf or Akili Smith... he's going to need counseling. For that kind of money, you can use the BIN option and pick up all of these certified autos from packs:

    Johnny Unitas - $300
    Joe Montana - $50
    Dan Marino - $80
    John Elway - $60
    Brett Favre - $120
    Roger Staubach - $70
    Bart Starr - $125
    Peyton Manning - $65
    Tom Brady - $150

Now I understand that none of these autos are rookie 1/1 patch cards... but personally, I'd rather have these 9 QB legends' autographs over one rookie QB autograph any day of the week. Just my humble opinion.

To each his own. If he's a Lion fan then I guess any amount of money is worth spending as long as that's what he really want. If he's tyring to invest, it's hard to see it resell for higher.

I use to be a Carr fan when he was a Texans but when he got traded I lost interest (as well as money). However, it was fun collecting his cards at that time b/c that's who I collected and spent insane amounts on his cards and didn't really care. Do I regret it? Probably. If he stayed a Texan I still would probably be collecting him though.

Must be a diehard Stafford collector or somebody buying it because of potential, to pay that much for it. Simply mind-boggling!

What year is the Adrian Peterson? I don't know if this is considered one of Stafford's RC but with it being a first year card and a 1/1 plus a nfl shield to boot I'm not all that suprised. Stafford may not be great but he has "potential" written all over him which is what drives these insane prices.

"potential" is moron bidding on a rookie 1/1, just plain stupid.

The AP SP authentic nfl logo auto rookie not laundry tag went for 5k(bought by logopatchcards a member on Beckett) the 1st go around then 3300 second go around. I was outbid the 2nd time by 500..

Ouch! Nothin' like losing 17 hundo on a resale!

And a lot of people probably thought the same thing of Brady's RCs, and RC autos when he won his first SuperBowl, and look at them now. You never know who is going to do something big in the NFL, and collecting any card is taking a risk. Some more than others, but still.
