stop the copycats
nobody runs the wildcat like the dolphins...no other team in the league has the personnel to run the wildcat like the dolphins
the dolphins lineup with 4 RB's and 2 TE's on occasion...no QB, no WR...everybody knows it's a run play, but nobody can stop it...on the rare occasion they throw it, they have the perfect TE in Fasano for this package...Sticky Icky Ricky is still a beast, and in combo with Ronnie Brown they have the best 2 RB set in the league
you always hear the NFL is a copycat league (which it is), but no other team is even coming close to duplicating the success with the wildcat...maybe it's because no team is committed to running it as often as the Dolphins...it seems like they run the wildcat about 1/3 of their plays (granted i've only watched them twice this year, last night & week 2 against Indy), but i know they ran it with success against buffalo last week too
all i'm saying is i don't think there is a single club that has the players to execute this formation in the NFL other than the dolphins

Your right about that for sure, BUT Denver ran what they are calling the "Wild Horses" formation this past sunday and let me tell you .... it worked. Kyle Orton split out wide and then came in motion and stopped under center, when he did that he completed every pass he threw from that formation ..... when he does that it didn't give the defense time to reset and play the pass at that point so they were left blind. I hope Denver keeps running that formation this year because it worked.
but yeah I agree ... the Dolphins run the Wildcat better than anyone else in the league and Ronnie Brown is a beast!!

The Wildcat is an old 1940's formation called The Single Wing.
The 50 Front was used to defend against this formation.

I don't agree that no other team has the players to be successful. As a fan, that is a pretty strong statement. I definitely agree though that the Dolphins are by far more successful than anyone else with this package, but as you said, it's due to the fact that they've invested more time and energy into it than other clubs. I think there are other clubs who have the talent but just choose to stay with what they do best. It's like zone blocking - don't dabble in it - if you're going to do it, you have to make a commitment to it.

Thats just it. No other team has the confidence in their set or just want to use the wildcat to mix things up. The wildcat IS the dolphins offense. Teams plan around that when they play them and not the passing game. If they ever start using pat white, newer things could open up in it. I dont see it being stopped at all this year, too many wrinkles can be added in.

i agree with what you guys are saying, but i still don't see another team in the NFL to run it successfully as often as the dolphins do....as you said, it is the dolphins offense, and they have invested lots of practice to it...i believe it started out of necessity because pennington had a noodle arm (as accurate as he may be), and not much talent at WR...and if other teams were able to bang out yardage the way the dolphins have in it, more teams would run it that often...several teams have tried, but none are succeeding...which is why i said it
the jets tried last night several times with leon washington, but weren't very successful...the eagles planned on using it a lot, using desean jackson and signing michael vick, but have pretty much abandoned it at this point...the vikings have tried it with percy harvin, and i dont think they ran any this week against the rams
no other team in the league has two RB's who were drafted in the top 5 picks...ricky & ronnie are both fast & powerful runners, and i think you need two stud RB's like them to run it in the NFL....it's just not going to work for 1/3 of your offensive snaps with skinny WR's, or QB's lined up at wide out...you have to bring in two big TE's who can block and a fullback to take full advantage
